NEW BANNER!!!NEW BANNER!!!NEW BANNER!!!NEW BANNER!!!Jessica Ann English was born on 24 February 1988 in Southampton, England to June and Bryan English, the same year that Celine Dion won the thirty-third eurovision song-contest. Her parents divorced when she was eight. That same year she began playing piano which gave her a much-needed outlet to express herself. She quickly began to pick up well-known tunes by ear, and gradually broadened her range of instruments, dabbling on guitar, recorder, harmonica, vibraphone, saxophone, violin and drums. Jessica attended ‘The Atherley School,’ where she received classical training, but soon became more interested in writing her own music. She would spend lesson time working on lyrics or melodies to her latest songs. Jessica began performing on a regular basis at her school, playing in wind-bands, choir groups and live concerts, before moving on to playing open mike nights at local bars and clubs. She then began recording demos at her home on cakewalk, and sending them out to labels. This lead to a studio recording session-a gift for her eighteenth birthday-resulting in two semi-finalist positions in the ‘UK songwriting contest’ and later a finalist position in the ‘Make it Break it’ awards held in the Paul Mccartney auditorium in Liverpool, as well as an interview in the Daily Echo. In the summer of 2006 Jessica packed up her things and moved to Los Angeles at the tender age of eighteen, to attend the Musicians Institute recording artist program in Los Angeles. During this time she found her artistic strengths and developed a distinct musical style that has been described as her ‘manifestation into sound.’ She became heavily influenced by beatnik artists such as Tom Waits, who coincidentally used to reside on the same street in Hollywood. Jessica is currently finishing her debut album ‘Musonic,’ and has already been approached by a film/tv placement company. The album is slated for release 2009.
