Headsmashedin... Well it all started back in early 2003 when by chance one night (not by chance, the Lodge ordained it, the Lodge is like a noun, a person place or thing, also like "the Force" from Star Wars) two bands Shank, a struggling hardcore band, and Skull the Hog, a rudderless Pantera wannabe, played a nondescript show at the Token lounge. Through that show a friendship between Shank drummer Wild Bill and STH vocalist Bryan Adams began to form, also known as Wild Bill's Lodge awakening. Soon after STH's drummer quit - leaving Bryan free to play with someone else. At the same time Wild Bill growing frustated broke up Shank.
Enter long time Wild Bill friend Jim Z. Jim and Wild Bill began to work out alot of Jim Z's old riffs (in Jim's patented chaotic "stinkfoot" style) and write what was soon to be HSI's classic first three songs. After a few weeks of jamming buried deep in the Lodge, they called Bryan for a tryout, he so loved the first riff of the first song they played (Blessed/Cursed) that he turned his back so they couldn't see him grinning, after the practice he immediately signed on. And the core of HSI was set.
After trying out several 2nd guitarist and bassist the guys settled on Bryan's friend Brandon, (for 2nd guitar), He and Bryan had Played together in the selfproclaimed most infamous christian metal band One bad Apple throughout the nineties. Now the foursome focused the summer of 2003 on recoding a no-buget demo, writing, and finding a bassist, which the later proved most difficult if not impossible. Enter Scott Padgen, aka "Slipknot Skott", a local tattoo artist (with all nine Slipknot faces inked on his fricking back!) and jouneyman gutarist. He became so blown away with HSI's lo-fi 4-track demo (playing it over and over in his tattoo studio till his patron's would ask if he had any other CD's?) that he sold some some gear and bought a bass rig, borrowed a bass and joined in at once.
Through out the fall of 2003 and early 2004 HSI' played a handful of shows, then tragedy struck... Wild Bill 'bout killed himself in a horrific 4-wheeler accident, leaving his Face-smashed-In (pun intended) and his left arm shattered. Wild Bill basically had to take a year off from drumming then reteach himself how to play. Even more tragic another member (who shall remain nameless) Nikki Sixx'ed himself a few months after Wild Bill's accident, thus putting the finishing touches on the demise of HSI.
For the next several years the members scattered and did different projects with other groups, but always staying friends, and talking about the good old days at "the Lodge"! Then came summer of 2006 with a fully rehabilitated Wild Bill, and everyone recovered from personal breakup's, breakdowns and or beat downs. The fire was rekindled, the boys regained the eye of the tiger, built a new Lodge rehearsal space/studio, "acquired" some new gear and even added a real life fulltime bassist, longtime compadre, Jim Paulin.
With a recording scheduled for early 2007 and shows to follow in the spring, HSI is back with a Vengeance to destroy all the eyeliner, black fingernail polish, little sister's pants wearing, emo crooning, fake corporate bullshit Metal that’s being propagated as the real deal. Rest assured HSI will never sellout to mainstream trends, but will always stay true to the underground roots which birthed them, horns up! Remember what happens at the Lodge stays at the Lodge. May the Lodge Bless you all!
