The Black Milk Collective have arrived, a coming together of minds to breathe fresh air into the current Hip Hop scene - a new spin on the old format.
Featuring the lyrical talents of Brave One the Graff artist and former member of the New Wave Poets, the black milk collective formed in Essex from a group of musicians, artists and various creative talents in late 2002. The Black Milk Collective have started on their mission to create new relevant sounds. With influences from the old and new school, the Black Milk Collective are ready to release their noise to the masses.
After the success of their debut 12" release "The Competition", the Collective are preparing the release of their long awaited EP, "Are Dreams Really Messages?" In the meantime, listeners will be treated to the release of the first single from the record, entitled "New Road". This will be an exclusive download-only release. The track represents a shift in style for the group with less emphasis on melody and hooks and a markedly darker, lo-fi approach. Socially conscious lyrics weave in and out of atmospheric beats and drone effects until the last half of the tune opens up into a raw work-out, not a million miles from Massive Attack and other down beat/ trip hop acts.
All Black Milk Collective projects will be released on Big Teeth Recordings - the future home of new artists and sounds worth hearing.
