As you can tell, I'm a big Batman fan. Actually, I'm a fan of pretty much all the comic characters. Batman is, by far, my favorite. "Why?" you ask. Simply put, there is nothing "SUPER" about this superhero. By that, I mean he has no super powers. I think that's part of his appeal. He has his parents taken away from him as a young boy by a random act of violence and then he uses that as his motivation for vengence. Driven by this vengence (as opposed to Superman's quest for truth, justice and the American way or Spider-Man's ever echoing "with great power comes great responsibility"), Batman set out to rid Gotham of corruption & the criminal element so that the innocent would never have to suffer the same fate as his parents. One of my favorite analagies about superheroes & their alter egos comes from Kill Bill V2 when David Carridine goes into this whole speech about how Superman is just Superman & Clark Kent is Superman's interpretation of humans. He also says that makes him different from heroes like Batman & Spider-Man because Peter Parker puts on a costume & becomes Spider-Man; Bruce Wayne puts on a costume & becomes Batman. That is where I take exception. Because of the death of his parents, Bruce Wayne's true persona IS Batman and the Bruce Wayne persona is just Batman pretending to be Bruce Wayne.
I'm a fan of all the comic book films: All 3 Spider-Man movies, the X-Men, Superman(I recently bought the Richard Donner cut of Superman II, which is better than the theatrical version), Daredevil, Hulk, Punisher, Ghost Rider, The Shadow and of course.....Batman.
