The members of Konqistador are a unit of visionaries; collectively bold and adventurous. Our supporters throughout the world are equally brave and strong in spirit. We have a message and it goes beyond the ubiquitous notion of being part of a band. Our music is a reflection of everything we've experienced and witnessed throughout our seven years of travel, research, recording and live performance. From love, to struggle, to disappointment, to fear, to hope, to anger, to passion and at times, even war. Konqistador began as an entity of three and has opened up to contributors and musicians throughout the world who seek to collaborate, perform, archive and challenge each other for the preservation of music.
Konqistador deliver a hybrid of electro-world-fusion delving in Eastern European industrialism, Baltic and Black Sea folklore, time honored Middle Eastern history. Our sound is delivered through ancient rhythms, ethereal and emotive guitars and adventurously explorative vocals presented in English, French, Spanish, Romanian, Turkish, Arabic and Russian. We're avid archivists and constantly record live, as originally recorded field recordings discovered from our travels around the world, richly influence our music.
Having spent the last three years touring Turkey and the Baltic region of Eastern Europe – Konqistador have been archiving a variety of Arabesque music, finding influences in a host of traditional Afghanistan folk music, turn of the century 'Turkish Karagoz' (shadow puppet music) and Romanian gypsy rhythms. Our upcoming album, 'Suada' is a reflection and symbol of Konqistador's inspiration from the east and the ancient tales we've discovered there. With 'Suada' you can expect to hear a more progressive and avant-garde approach from where our debut albums 'Courage Riot' and 'Electriker" left off. The new album promises to be something groundbreaking, something brave, something beautiful and something honest.
Today Konqistador represents the Lion, the warrior, the wolf, the courageous, the relentless sailor, the path maker, the survivor, those who ask questions, those who listen, those who embrace change, the humbled, the diligent, the resourceful, the minimalist, the hard worker, the inspired, the history makers, the future shakers, those who own up to their mistakes and those who carry on, the loyalists, the leaders, the revolutionaries, the goddess Sophia and the constellations.
Courage is our willingness to let go of the familiar. Discovery is our relentless passion to uncover history. Music is our language and Konqistador is our gift to you.
