FROM THA HIP is a premiere event in an important and rapidly evolving art form that bridges continents and cultures. It is a high-energy performance-work that is rooted in Hip-Hop, and that fuses movement, spoken word, and live music to tell universal stories. Still young, the emerging Hip-Hop dance-theater form represents a further step in the definition of the art of Hip-Hop. It contains exciting new works that have a unique power to attract young audiences. FROM THA HIP, created by the gifted choreographer Clyde Evans, Jr., tells the story of a young Trinidadian immigrant, who during his travels to Philadelphia, finds a way to connect with a foreign culture through movement. Commissioned by the Prince Music Theater, From Tha Hip's debut run last from Sept 17th-Oct 8th 2006.
