Ahoy and Greetings to ye all! My name is Bethany Suzanne Worthington. But most know me as Blue-Eyed Beth. Many a man has lost himself in my eyes, to find his purse (and his bed for that matter) empty the next morning. I'm a rouge and a pirate. A thief and seductress traveling under the banner of the dreaded Pirates of Ill Repute.
But things were not always this way for me. I was once a lady of the royal court. How does royalty turn to piracy? The usual way I guess. I suppose I'm not the first girl to run away from home.
My father was a General in the royal navy. He raised me by himself after my mother died when I was 8. While traveling with my father I learned to sail and love ships. But more, I learned the politics of the darker parts of the world. Which is where my skills really dwell. In diplomacy and bargain. Course, my father also taught me that there's a place for a diplomatic dagger to the heart as well. So, when I wasn't at sea I was also taught to be a lady of the court. A world of fancy dresses and tea parties. I also developed a great love of music, song and dance. It was a very pretty place to visit. But not to stay.
When I was 18, my father promised my hand to a foppish Baron who was nearly twice my age. Father had great plans for me to be married into royalty. I however, had no intention of living my life talking gossip with the brainless women of court. Nor did I care to share a bed with a pale and rat like man who knew less of swordplay and more of fashion. I refuse to be with a man who wears more make-up than I do.
The night before my wedding, I went to a local tavern I knew to be a place where pirates frequented. After a few hours, and a few drinks, I met Widget McGuffin and his friend Mr. Ross N. Stern. Both were sailors who would be shipping out with the Pirates of Ill Repute. I protested briefly that I did not care to be on a ship were I was the only woman. This however, did not seem to be a problem since there are nearly more female pirates aboard the Ill Repute at this time than male. Indeed it seemed the Captain might prefer to be surrounded by women. But then again, what man wouldn't. I was introduced to the Captain, Jack McCool, and I was brought on as part of the crew.
I was never really taught to fight exactly. I can't brag to have much skill with a sword. But I get by. I know how to use a pistol am willing shoot someone in the back. Also, I possess the certain flexible morality it takes to kill a man in his sleep. Fight smart, not hard. That's my motto.
Since I’ve got the background of a lady, I do a fair bit of spying and stealing maps and such when the need arises. Luring enemies into traps and the like. Other than that I use my girly ways to get what I want when I want it. And always keep a dagger close for serious diplomatic encounters.
Life is good. I sail. I fight. I flirt. I live my life the way I see fit. Plus, there’s nothing wrong with devoting your life to finding obscene amounts of gold with your comrades. The only two things you can never get too much of is gold and friends. I'm always interested in meeting more pirates. So feel free to say hello.
