About Me

Hello! I'm Christopher Norby, a composer working out of Ireland and currently on my completion year of a PhD in composition at the University of Ulster in Derry, Ireland. I'm interested in collaborative composition... working with dancers, performers, artists, film makers, game designers, writers etc. Collaboration for me is one of the most fulfilling experiences as a composer, and if anyone is interested in creating something new and exciting, I'm always up for it! I've had the great opportunity to have had my music played by some wonderful ensembles around Ireland, UK and Europe in venues including the Hugh Lane and National Gallerys in Dublin, the Dukes Hall at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Old Museum Arts Centre and SARC in Belfast, the Playhouse in Derry and at Festival Unicum in Slovenia. In February 2009 I was accepted for representation by the Contemporary Music Centre of Ireland - where my scores can be purchased and further info on my projects can be obtained. Increasingly I am interested in working with dance and theatre, and have some interesting projects in the pipeline. I've also been having fun conducting my own little ensemble on various projects, and hope to keep that going for a while.
I am co founder of AnNua, a newly established theatre company comprising of music, acting and imaginative design. Please visit www.myspace.com/annuaproductions for further info.
