Power of Trinity :MUSICAL BIOGRAPHYI am Papis Rootsman born in Gambia founder of the Groupe Chossan roots Band. I am composer arranger and song writer lyrics. I also play differents instruments example : drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, percussion africans drum, congas and sing as well. I started playing music in Gambia in the 60's with our own cultural and traditional drums while learning the spiritual music. This experience inspired me to spread the good message through my music all over the world. In 1974, I joined one of the best bands in Gambia, « IFANGBONDI BAND » as a drummer. We recorded an album together called « SARABA » which was a big sucess in Senegambia, Africa and other parts of the world. As well as a drummer with the « IFANGBONDI BAND » I was also arranger, composer and lyric writer. We work so hard to create this music that we are hearing in Senegambia these days. So call afromanding Mbalah contemporal international style. I am so happy with all this good works that we have done. Participate in many festivals in Senegambia with groups like Super Diamano, Baobab, Ismial Lo, Halem deux, etc. Also performed first part concerts with well kowns musicians like Stanly Bekford, Pablo Mosse and jazz musicians Abdalah Ibrahim musician from South African. I left this group in 1980 to form the « PAPIS ROOTSMAN AND THE CHOSSAN BAND » and in 1981 the band started to travel to other African countries from Gambia, to Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, as well as Freetown and Sierra Leone. After our African tour, we went to Europe to perform in different clubs and festivals and in 1984 our music brought us to Paris. The group participated in 3 television programs for the French T.V. With other african musicians and in 1992, I participed in a French Television program called TELETHON. I was particularly happy to take part in this program as it was a national fund raising program to help sick people. I naturally love music which plays a very important rôle in my life and I am very determined to contribute my best world wide. As well as being a musician, I am a greatlistener of various artists from whom I am inspired. I love playing all styles of music such as jazz, funk, soul, blues and afrobeat.With THE PAPIS ROOTSMAN AND THE CHOSSAN ROOTS BAND we play our own compositions and arrangments in our own world wide style. The message of my music is based on love, unity, solidarity, peace, tolerence and harmony for all human beings. I work to help spread the african roots music and to promote african rhythm and culture all over the world through the spiritual music world wide. My musical message is :ONE LOVE, ONE HEART AND ONE DESTINY WITH JAH LOVE
