About Me

»Batteraaf-Beat's new Studio...
There isn't really much to say about the way it all started; as an active musician in different scenes I was looking for new ways to express myself. Hip-Hop was a style that I never had participated in as a musician, so that's how it started hehe.
The name is a different story, a lot of folks will think: "WTF!?! Is that a word ?" Batteraaf is not a dutch word, but one taken from my local dialect, freely translated it means so much as; "urchin" or "lout" (kwajongen). I found it a suiting title. There, now you know.
Meanwhile things are getting on a sprea! Some cool collabs with Monsterverbond , de Verlichting and MC Nektar are rounding off. I'm very proud of these productions and I'm glad those clicks gave me a chance! Propz for that brada's!
For news about upcoming projects and releases just keep your eyes focussed on my Nailgun-Productions or myspace sites.
Music is very important in my life, I visited my first concert when I was 14 years old. It was an Iron Maiden concert, the ticket was given to me for my 14th birthday. Since that moment I was hooked and from the money of my Sunday news paper route I bought my first guitar and distortion stomp box! Shortly after that I started taking keyboard lessons too and my musical skills kept on growing ever on.
I've grown up with funk, soul, Motown and off course the eighties music thou; that's probably why my vinyl lot holds such a different collection of music. I'm still roaming the flea markets and 2nd hand shops to gather cool vinyl. Gotta love it!
I spend 15 active years in and around the metal scene, playing in bands; doing vocals, guitars, bass, keyz and additional programming. Organizing gigs, running the local practice shelter and related shit. I also did a tremendous cut of work in setting up the E-Zine metallive.nl ; which holds everything you need to know about the metal scene. During my quest for new music and knowledge I got bored of participating in the metal scene so I started to take my places in a lot of different styles.....
The first releases are out there and I'm on my way to setup my own production company; Nailgun-Productions . Haha, it's all about the names huh... I came up with that name after watching American Psycho; lovers of the genre will know what part I mean and to those who don't; rent or buy the damn thing haha, you're missing a fcking classic !

I have no idea what the future will hold, I'm working hard on a demo now, trying to get signed.... Making my studio bigger and better (I'm a sucker for hardware) step-by-step. And meanwhile I keep on doing what I do best; making music!

If you take a look at my record/CD collection, you will find a broad variety of music; no room for tunnel view inside my world haha. I spend a lot of time roaming 2nd hand records stores looking for cool and "vintage" vinyls, mainly the 70's funky stuff... Gotta love vinyls! :)
It really doesn't matter what I listen; when an album has a certain feel or groove and I'll like it, I'll buy it, no matter what kinda music style it is. Music is timeless!
