Born in Kirby, Lived in Maghull and Educated at Liverpool University, his passion was definitely for playing music which seemed to cause endless problems and conflict with his superiors at the engineering company who where paying for his degree.
Having worked mobile and in the small clubs in Liverpool, it was his determination in 1988 that placed him first in the local radio DJ of the year competition and further runner up in the Final of the National UK DJ of the year. It was the break he needed, and his progression to his first big residency at the COLISEUM in HALIFAX. At the forefront of the dance scene, the venue gained recognition as BEDA (British Entertainment and Disco Association) venue of the year for 2 consecutive years. After the unfortunate death of a friend and DJ in 1991, the position at TOKYO JO's, PRESTON the largest and most prestigious venue in the north of England became Dave's. With a combination of House and Hardcore, the venue was being recognised and by the mid 90's the dance scene was reaching the British public. Dave also instigated and promoted what became the most successful Soul and Hip hop night to hit the north of England. And Saturday Night was renowned for being the biggest Party Night in the North West.It was a career change in 1995 that saw Dave move to the other side, but in his management role it gave him a birds eye view from the customer side and in a management position he still allowed himself the centre stage every Saturday. It was only when a senior position in head office was offered to him, did he hang up his record bags.A side step you may say, but responsible for acquiring nightclubs and taking a small company to what became the largest Nightclub PLC in the UK, gave Dave an opportunity to travel the length and breadth of the country and visit every possible nightclub and dance venue and find out what makes people Dance. No mean feat, but four years later a knowledge that is paramount.
It was his undoubted passion for music and the people, that in 1998 he made a decision that was not to be regretted. Out came the record boxes and with the word on the street, Dave had landed 2 resident gigs before his notice period had expired and was back in full spin 4 nights a week. Dave does not type cast himself into one style of music due to the venues he has played over the years. He plays a selection of Funky house, R&B and Party but he made a name for himself with Hard House and Trance in the Early 90's. However Dave's musical passion goes deeper to Soul, Funk, Rare groove and Hip Hop.
Dave's early years have made his retro and Old School sets legendary in the year 2000.It was in 2001 his colleague, good friend and general manager at the Ministry of Sound Bangkok who arrived home on a recent vacation and informed him there was a position available. You dont have to ask a person twice when as he describes it as the most fantastic place in the world with the nicest people. And after tying up the loose ends in the UK, Dave became the resident DJ in the MINISTRY OF SOUND, Bangkok.Installed at the Ministry of Sound €“ Bangkok as resident DJ and Head of Music. He was responsible for booking some of the Worlds most renowned DJ€™s and in the short space of time secured bookings with Paul Oakenfold, Andy Morris, Smokin Jo, Roger Sanchez, Judge Jules ,Paul van Dyk, Lisa Loud and Danny Rampling. He was also be responsible for maintaining and adopting music policies and passing on his wealth of knowledge to his team of both English and Thai DJ's along with working 5 nights a week.
Due to the countries politics and forced closure of the Ministry it saw Dave's reluctant return to the UK in 2003 but with no delay found himself resident at Squires in Preston and at the Park in Chorley. Although not the glamour of the big dance venue it brought out him back to what he does best, ALL ROUND DJ.
