About Me

This profile has been specially designed by young people, for young people so that you can know just what is on that is aimed at young people in and around Leeds. We are people who are interested in museums and galleries and Leeds! We are also young people under 21 who work with museums in some way, like on work experience or volunteering.
Coming Soon is the City Museum Opening! Take a sneak preview here at what's in store!!!
Delve into a world of discovery, enjoy a great day out or explore something new with Leeds Museums and Galleries. There's plenty for everyone to do and see, with nine attractions and hundreds of exhibitions, workshops and more.
All Leeds' Museums and Galleries have something going on that you can take part in or do. Competitions to win prizes, holiday workshops to on-going clubs, interactive displays to games, work experience to study-support, you might be surprised how you can get involved!
As part of Leeds City Council, Leeds Museums work with 'Breeze' and you might find them taking part in the summer festival and holding extra events at the museums. All breezecard holders are entitled to discounted entry into the musuems so make sure you bring your card along with you!Leeds Museums and Galleries Website
KIRKSTALL ABBEY
Kirkstall Abbey is situated in North East Leeds, it is the most complete version of a medieval monastery in the whole country. As well as the fascinating ruins there are many things going on including the Kirkstall festival which happens every summer, this year on the 12/7
TEMPLE NEWSAM
Temple Newsam is an hold, very haunted mansion with lots going on in and around it. The Leeds festival has moved but there is now the even more exciting Opera in the park (just be sure to bring a fold up chair) and for all the animal lovers there is a walk through farm with as many cute baby animals as you can think of.
LOTHERTON HALL
Lotherton Hall is another stately home built a long time ago. There is always plenty of arty and crafty things going on and if you look closely in the surrounding woods you can see some deer.
THWAITE MILLS MUSEUM
Thwaites is one of only two fully restored and working Watermills in the country. Around the site there is also miles of beautiful countryside and the path next to the canal is the perfect place to have a bike ride.
LEEDS MUSEUM DISCOVERY CENTRE
The Discovery centre has a diverse range of all kinds of different exhibits from all different aspects of history, both local and further afield. There is also a large library, meaning that whatever you are looking for, you will be able to either find out about it or where you can find out about it in Leeds.
ARMLEY MILLS INDUSTRIAL MUSEUM
Armley Mills was once the largest woollen mill in the world and it owned a significant share of the clothing industry up until it closed in 1969. Inside the huge building you can see the old machines (hopefully working in the near future), an old fashioned cinema, exhibits on film and printing, and Jack the old steam engine who roams around outside the picturesque location. Situated near Kirkstall Road, entering the complex it seems you are in the middle of the countryside not a busy city.
THACKRAY MEDICAL MUSEUM
The Thackray Medical Museum is situated just over the road from St James' hospital and used to be a shop in itself however now it is one of the most interactive and realistic museums in the nation. A wonderful Victorian street takes you right back in time and the mass graves to one side show you just how bad life used to be.
THE ROYAL ARMOURIES
The Royal Armouries is situated in the middle of Leeds on the River Aire and has four floors, with interactive exhibits, exhibits from every age of conflict and great outdoor shows where you can see how Knights jousted and Falcons caught prey for people.
ART EXHIBITION
At Armley Mills recently a group of art students created art throughout the museum from heads on machines to an amazing art gallery between machinery exhibits, here is some of their work:
