Everything Jimmy does it's to emulate his older brother. If Frank's accomplished something, Jimmy is right behind him trying to do it better. It seems almost as if Jimmy's life is a parallel repetition of Frank's. As these parallel universes extend, Jimmy realizes he wants to do everything Frank's done, except one. Frank got his girlfriend pregnant and had to detour his life from one of destined success to one of mediocrity. He loves his son, Tommy, but realizes how different things would be without him. As graduation approaches for Jimmy, his relationship with his girlfriend, Sarina, intensifies. Jimmy soon discovers that being true to himself is tougher than he will understand. Especially when Fate desires otherwise. This film test the borders of creating a set of characters that push the norm without disturbing an element of realism. It struggles to create an image of the Asian American male completely contradictory to what decades of structural racism has infused into present day American society.
