Welcome to the official MySpace site for Music Not Mayhem @ www.safeconcerts.com - Music Not Mayhem is about bringing music fans together to help bring back the real festival vibe and sprirt while tackling some of the more unwanted aspects that have crept into the live music scene. We want to celebrate the million and one things that make events in the UK the best out there - mostly that's down to the amazing talent that's getting about - no matter what your musical tastes - there's some real magic getting about - get out there and celebrate make it about the MUSIC not the Mayhem!
Music Not Mayhem is run and managed by Debs & Derren - genuine music fans with a love of festivals and live music events - it's run on a completely not for profit basis and we are based deep in the Wiltshire countryside!
We began our campaign with safeconcerts because we noticed that there were issues at some events, issues that weren't being dealt with properly - sometimes there just wasn't basic value for money, fans were being treated like cattle, some events were more than a bit dodgy on the old safety front and some people thought that rock 'n roll was a great excuse to run riot. We thought it was time that genuine fans had a chance to get together and talk about what was going down and look at ways of doing something positive about it because there was nothing out there where you could do that and no one that was interested.
Concerts and festivals should be something that leaves us with great memories of having had a shit hot time - lets face it - music has meaning for most of us and can be a huge and positive force for unity. The general mayhem that has gone down in dense crowds over the last few years has meant that too many people have got hurt, injured or just plain scared wittless by the level of violence, aggression and rioting that has been happening at some of our best loved festivals - Reading Leeds and Download festivals have had rioting and as a result people have suffered permanent injury and disabilities - not our idea of fun.
We think that rioting at festivals is crap and that most people who go to festivals are there for the music and the festival vibe - not the madness and mayhem that a small minority seem to get off on, this is just mindless violence but it affects the majority of us and puts the future of our best loved festivals at risk - which is why the campaign for Music Not Mayhem is important for all of us who love tham and for the future of our festivals. Together we can do something about it - with your support we can make Music Not Mayhem matter.
Add your voice to the ever growing fan base for Music Not Mayhem at live music events - it's your chance to say what you really think about the events you support. We've even got hold of some great festival T'S - we hope you'll like them and wear them - show your support for the music and all that's good about it.
Issues, issues and more issues!!!Music Not Mayhem highlights some important issues and we want to know how you feel about it all - what issues matter to you? do music fans get a fair deal? value for money? are most events safe? how can we stop the riots? are ticket prices and the terms and conditions that go with them fair? should we be prevented from taking water into an event? should we be paying over the odds for food and drink? are security allowed by law to search people? evict them from a venue? refuse admission?
With Music Not Mayhem at Safeconcerts you'll find a site packed with lots of information about crowd safety, crowd surfing and moshing and some info about accidents and injuries. There's a very comprehensive festival survival guide and a guide for going abroad for gigs - these guides are the best out there - go have a look. But there's loads more to it than safety issues.......
We also feature bands and festivals and have a comprehensive gig and venue guide on line - you can buy tickets via the site as well.If you are in a band or want to promote a band or event we can help promote you for free on the site! we do regular features and love finding new bands and music we didn't know about! contact us and let us know about it - we'll add you to the site.
People can even add their own reviews live on line about the gigs and venues they've been to.
We also have featured bands and venues, festivals and professionals along with a pretty good gig guide - there is something for everyone and because we do this voluntarily and don't get paid we are totally independant and not tied to anything or anyone - we are free to say it like it really is.
On top of all that we can give you tickets to play Warfighters! The next generation gaming which is streets ahead of paintballing is Warfighters where you can do things like play Ghost Recon for real, and they have tanks and all manner of crazy stuff available - real games with a high emphasis on strategy, supported by UbiSoft, it's gonna be very, very big and already it's getting hard to get tickets for this - but you can get yourself some for free just for contributing to the website or entering our competitions!
There is the inevitable forum too - why not log on and have your say about the music scene and the things that really matter to you? Most important of all - please support Music Not Mayhem - let's make sure the festival and music scene is the best ever.
I am a total misfit, simply a bone fide misfit
