Yantra developed her composition skills specialising in music for film, television and radio. She also broadened her academic research by completing a masters degree in contemporary composition receiving a scholarship to travel to Europe to research her thesis, ‘In Search of Contemporary Trance Music’ exploring the place of sacred and trance music in contemporary society. Her skills encompass conducting, performance, composing and musical direction.
Yantra considers herself not only a composer, but a sound artist, specialising in all aspects of audio production from music composition through to sound design and final mastering. By using a fusion of new music technology, acoustic instrumentation and vocal sonorities she achieves a sound that is uniquely progressive, fresh and exciting.
She has worked on exciting music projects around the world. Now with advancements in digital technology she is able to base herself on the east coast of Australia. From her studio in Byron Bay she draws inspiration from the elemental forces of nature whilst remaining globally connected, working on major international projects such as her current project with the BBC World Service incorporating traditional Burmese instrumentation with contemporary beats and orchestration.
