....born in Boston went to school down in Philly and been on the Left Coast for the past 8 years. Just trying to make some beats that you feel in your soul and in the process avoid being a cliche....used to scratch Star Wars records on my parent's record player in the 80's and put my Radio Shack tape recorder up to the stereo speaker and record Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five, Michael Jackson and Run DMC songs off of Kiss 108 FM in Beantown...Crackly-ass tapes playing I would been doing horrible attempts at the windmill on the kicthen linoleum...then '88 hit and I was blown away playing EPMD, Eric B, PE and BDP all day and night. A few yeas later was dancing a running man routine and rhyming over the Humpty Dance instrumental at the school talent show...at the same time I was liking James Taylor, Dylan, Cat Stevens and mellow 'ish like that...got into the urban folk scene in Boston hanging out at shows at Club Passim in Cambridge. Bought an acoustic guitar and learned enough to make me dangerous....then moved to the West Coast, bought some turntables and was a fiend for old breaks, rare groove and was loving late 90's trip-hop. Kruder and Dorfmeister's stuff was genius. I got a few gigs at clubs in San Francisco and was nervous as as hell trying to beat match live and not embarass myself and oh yes...there were plenty of embarassing whack off tempo, mixed salad, ugly-ass transitions. So I'd go home and keep practicing....Turntablism had blown up by then and I'd go to shows at the Fillmore and watch b-boys and breakers tear it up, DOZE would be painting live on stage while Z-Trip, Q-Bert and Nu-Mark would tear the roof off the place...I decided by then that I just don't want to be a spectator
