BIOGRAPHYLet Loose formed following an advert in Melody Maker(put in by Richie and his brother Rob), and consisted of Richie Wermerling, Lee Murray and Rob Jeffrey. The three of them shot to fame in 1994 with the massive Summer Anthem hit Crazy For You, selling a cool 600 thousand. Cheated from its rightful place at No 1 only by the equally massive Wet Wet Wet's "Love is All Around Me", (yes, it was that Summer!) - Crazy For You ruled at No 2.
Let Loose built up a strong fan following with their exciting live performances and guitar pop rock sound , described as "rocky, easy listening and indie style" in a more recent review of their Best Of Album. Influenced by the work of such bands as Duran Duran and penning their own numbers with style and enthusiasm, Let Loose were a step away from the then plethora of boy bands.

Stamford Amp released Anything For You as a single which featured in the BBC series starring Pauline Quirke "Down to Earth", and it is also on release by Australian pop idol runner up Lee Harding. In Japan Sweet 17 was featured on the 2005 No.1 album by Yuki.
Noise Next Door recorded "I Want You Back" whilst Peter Brame from Fame Academy made "Smash and Grab" his own.
With Jay Smith, Richie co wrote and produced four of the tracks on the forthcoming album - one of which featured in the TV series Lost: Coincidence, Angel 4 Tea, Dead Gorgeous and Monster Under The Bed.
Earlier pop credits include working with I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here presenters Ant and Dec in their earlier incarnation as pop duo PJ and Duncan on tracks including their first number "Tonight I'm Free", "Girlfriend" and the Christmas single "Perfect", which was both written and co produced by Richie.

A PERSONAL BIOG' BY VICKY FOLKSMAN...
“Britain’s Best New Band, take it from us!” quipped Smash Hits’ front cover in the April of 1993… and so began the life of 90’s power-poprock we’re-not-a-boyband supremos Let Loose. For approximately 3 years they rode the crest ofthe pop wave and for Richie Wermerling (vocals), Lee Murray (drums/backingvocals) and Rob Jeffrey (gee-tar) it was the start of a true pop odyssey.
After a fairly respectable first three single releases in 1993, Let Loosedecided to remix their first single, the self-penned. Crazy for You.(byRichie). Not slacking on the promotional aspect this time, the band embarkedon what can only be described as a Saturday Morning Telly free-for-all, averitable onslaught of radio interviews, magazine shoots and Richard and Judyappearances, all in the name of shameless self-promotion. Worked though. Backin the days when it meant something to get to number one, this promotionyielded results beyond everyone’s expectations. Crazy for You, with its brandnew sparkly piano intro and great big wedding cake video sold in excess of600,000 copies countrywide(u.k), and became the 9th biggest selling single ofthat year (1994). Devastatingly and tantalisingly kept from the coveted numberone spot by Wet Wet Wet’s Love is All Around (for 16 frigging weeks), theband, appearing on Top of the Pops every other week as it made its ascent upthe charts, eventually made it almost to the top, clinging on to the number 2position for three whole weeks, before admitting defeat and slipping backdown. The next two singles, combined with the sales of ‘Crazy…’ gave them anamalgamated sales number of almost a million copies sold. They bought stuff.Richie got a jag. Lee bought keyboards. Rob, er, bought a motorised lawnmower.Life went on for La Loose in this vein for the next couple of years. They woreleather pants, they dyed their hair blonder (except Lee) and they became firmfriends with Nobby the Sheep (but that’s another story…). People wrote toJim’ll Fix It to meet them. They made a video in Miami, one in Prague. Andone in San Francisco. They released 2 albums. Richie’pants got tighter. Theyembarked on a nationwide tour. Rob’s hair began to take on a life of its own. They are fondly remembered by all fangirls/boys of the era as one of the mostapproachable bands in pop, signing autographs, posing for pictures, yelling‘Oi Oi’ a lot, and generally being Most Excellent.
Nowadays, it’s a much more grown-up story. Rob Jeffrey sunk his cash into buying a boozer. For those of you who rememberhis love affair with a certain Mr Jack Daniel’s (not Paul) it seems a fittingtestament.
Lee Murray got married.and had two kids.He is still in music and has a morebehind-the-scenes role these days. Occasionally has been seen depping forWestlife on TV and has had walk-on roles in Eastenders and the Bill. Mostirritatingly looks like he has not aged a day in 10 years and will not revealhis secret under any circumstances.
Richie Wermerling is still very much in music, writing, producing andrecording for both the record industry and for TV and film. SEE RICHIE'S MY SPACE..WWW.MYSPACE.COM/RICHIEWERMERLING. Along withpopping out a couple of the cutest kids ever seen in real life and not in ababy Gap catalogue,he s married .
