About Me
I like to think I am a person with many layers, I have a wild side and a calm side I am adventurous and can be reserved. I have a deep rooted passion for good music and to that I owe my career, I am the producer and presenter of a music television show called WhatzUpMalta covering all aspects of the music industry reporting live from all genres of music events packed with loads of interviews and exciting moments. I'm half Jamaican and half English and am currently enjoying living on the the Maltese Islands.
WhatzUpMalta was a show born out of sheer enthusiasm for good music, live gigs, dedicated artists, nightlife and the people enjoying them.
It was on a lazy afternoon reading a book called ‘What on earth am I here for’ by Rick Warren. That a chapter changed my life as I knew it, I was working in a job that paid well but was going nowhere, as I read about taking action and changing that which you do not like and making for yourself a purpose driven life.. First I had to find my purpose, what would fulfill me.. So I wrote down a list of things that I consider myself good at and most importantly enjoy doing and, and from that very list made my mind up. I love music, travel, people and TV. The TV bit was something I have always wanted to do following my family’s footsteps. Music was also something that from a very early age was always around me, my father being involved in the music industry in London was responsible for starting me off with a curious ear, so music has been a big part of my life from the word go really. Traveling has been part of my life ever since I left Malta at 16 on an adventure of my own to live and study in London. And people, So with my list of things I love I created my own path my own career, I agreed with the author on the fact that if you are to dedicate so much of your life to ‘work’ then why not do what you were put on this earth to do? Live your purpose and do something you enjoy doing, then you will become good at your work, if your good at your work you will be appreciated, and people who are appreciated get paid well! It sounded like a great formula to me. So I set myself a mission my career was now in my own hands. I sat down and created a concept for a TV show, and basically went round to all the TV stations on the island and took my little laptop and my big idea. After six months of no’s, maybes, and we will call you back’s the day came when someone liked the idea and gave me a chance. During that first summer I learned so much I was like a sponge soaking it up from every direction and I thank everyone who taught me and had so much patience with me. WhatzUp was now no longer a dream but it was on telly! Filming WhatzUp is the best job in the world because I created it out of my own passions, I'm out all the time at the hottest events, get to meet all the big names in the music world and give support to up and coming artists, and still get to dance the night away with all the people.
Giving such exposure to the entertainment sector hadn't yet been done for Malta yet so I also found a niche area that needed a voice, something new and exciting a reflection of what a happening island Malta really is.
In the beggining because nobody knew about the show and the way we portrayed people, Everyone was a bit camera shy at first TV cameras had never really been trusted in certain areas before the whatzUp, but as soon as a few shows were aired and people saw that the point was to make them look good. Everyone was jumping in front of the camera’s and giving there opinions in interviews it was a hit! and today nearly two years down the line WhatzUp has made it on to the national TV station TVM has been given a prime time slot and was voted the most watched TV programme on Thursdays out of all the other stations on the island put together. .
Now with one of the most reputable production companies in Malta behind Whatzup is going strong.
So now you have a show that is going to break some barriers as for as Maltese television goes.. With it’s cutting edge content formed by all the best events happening on the Maltese Islands, the buzz of the crowd, traveling abroad to film festivals and Maltese artists performing overseas, exclusive interviews with International artists, and the news room where we share all the where to go on the weekend tips. The show is still a pleasure to make and it will always be that way, because I am living my dream. And I recommend to anyone out there with a dream and a passion to get out there and do it, if you believe in yourself others will do to and if you have a passion don’t let it die to a boring day to day job that is going nowhere. Do what you enjoy doing get good at it, and make it work for you. My opinion is that it is the key to happiness.
