I am here for Friends

About Me

A fat, balding, father of 4 who has been married for 17 years. That about sums me up. Okay lets see; I'm a paramedic and have been in EMS for 19 years. Yep, got my first responder certification when I was 16; Oh the good ole days of EMS. I'm a fire service instructor, I've worked for Fire Departments but currently volunteer for Hazel Green Fire Department. My four greatest accomplishments in life ranked by order of occurance are: Omer II, Mamie, Earon, Regina. Yes there first names also spell my name O,M,E,R. Before you ask, no I didn't do it on purpose but my wife noticed it and thought it was cool. Scoutmaster since 2001, Troop 249 Bluegrass Council. District Commissioner for BSA Daniel Boone District. Daniel Boone Training Committee. Finally decided to give this OA thing a chance and boy was I stupid for not learning about OA sooner. OA is great! I enjoy helping my wife with Venture Crew 249 and I'm Skipper of the newly formed Sea Scout Ship 249-The Buccaneers. We have terrific youth leaders and I expect great things in 2008! We are already going caving and providing a lot of public service. Did I mention I like Boy Scouts?

My Interests

My wife and kids, Outdoorsy Stuff--hunting, fishing, camping, etc. Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, Emergency Medicine, Fire Fighting, Paranormal & Occult, Mythology, ancient history (Native American & European, not long lost X's), UFOs. What is my favorite food when camping?
glitter-graphics.com Learning cool, useless, obscure knowledge that will never amount to anything but makes people say, "Wow, you're really smart." Have you got everything to go camping? Food? Clothing? Sleeping Bag? Did you tell your parent?

I'd like to meet:

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion,it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

Music:

I pretty much like any kind of music, guess it depends on my mood. My current playlist contains: Bach, Mozart, Eyabay, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Smash Mouth, Enya, Rodney Carrington, Tom T Hall, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Blood Hound Gang, Richie Blackmore, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Dio, Evanescence, you get point. I'm a fat man so I listen to a lot of food music such as Meatloaf, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Black Eyed Peas, etc.

Movies:

Star Wars (of course), Star Trek, Indiana Jones, The Last Starfighter, Patch Adams, The Medicine Man, Harry Potter (although the books are better), Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Bugs Life, Follow Me Boys, Men in Black. Any movie with Robin Williams, Sean Connery, or Nicolas Cage (The Rock was great. X-Men, Spiderman, Shrek (although my wife tells me I look like Shrek in the bath, hair patches and all.) Wayne's World, Robin Hood (with Kevin Costner and Men in Tights), any Monty Python movie, The Three Musketeers (old and new.), Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Transformers is great, although I wished Jazz had lived. 300--Well what can I say AWESOME!, Ghost Rider delivered on my expectations--I collected Ghost Rider comics. Man, I watch a lot of movies. Everyone should watch the mini series 500 nations. It was narrated by Kevin Costner and will open your eyes.

Television:

Used to like Rescue Me but it has dive bombed the last couple seasons, Saved-canceled way too soon, Battle Star Galactica (old and new), MythBusters (now they have a cool job), Dirty Jobs. The crocodile hunter shows (died way to soon),Jeff Corwin, Night Stalker (old and new although the old Kolchak was better), Heros. Monty Python, Benny Hill, Robin Hood, The Dresdin Files, TAPS, Smarter that a 5th Grader, Kid Nation is pretty cool. As of Oct 1,2007; family made an executive decision that we watch too much TV. That being decided, no more TV in the Caldwell Home. As of November things going great without TV. We do still watch Movies but just no regular programming. I like it! As of March 2008, still no TV. We haven't died of TV withdrawal yet.

Books:

The Holy Bible. The Incarnations of Immortality, The Earthsea Cycle, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Lord of the Flies, The Boy Scout Handbook, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Boy Scout Merit Badge Pamphlets(very informative short reads), Tale of Two Cities, The Gospel of the Red Man

Heroes:

Omer P. Carson- my uncle,75th Rangers, KIA Vietnam 12/06/70. A day of infamy.Anyone who protects others against bullies, and oppression. Anyone who helps others and puts the needs of others before the needs of themselves.Men and women who face the brutality of combat in defense and service for our country and our way of life. The next time you critize somone in our armed forces; say a thank you to them as well. They would much rather be with their families but they are fulfilling a vow to protect us. If they were not fighting and dying for you then you would not live in a free county and be allowed to critize them.My brothers and sisters who have made the ultimate sacrifice within the fire and emergency medical services.Children who continue to be children when they know they have a terminal illness. I wish I had their strength.Children who don't let grown bullies in our nations school systems still their dream or break their spirit.True teachers who care about there students and are not either grown bullies trying to crush the dreams of our future because they don't like themselve, or that are their for a paycheck and don't like being bothered by the "brats" of today. My son Chris. He is an Eagle Scout and very active in the Order of the Arrow. He is Chapter Chief of the Sheltowee Chapter. I do wish he took high school more seriously, though. I love to watch him grow and prosper as well as have fun. It saddens me watching him realize that adults (although they may be teachers or principles) can be the biggest bullies that teenagers have to face.Mamie, she is very smart and self motivating. She can do anything that she sets her mind to. Starting to feel the pains of the teenage years and is handling them in stride. Is a leader who marches to her own drum. Recently earned her Venture Bronze and is working on her Venture Ranger award!Earon is full of life and love. She has had to overcome some teasing in school and I'm proud of her for this. She has very "thin skin" and wears her heart on her sleeve. She still likes school and makes straight A's. Like Mamie, Earon walks to her own beat and doesn't care if what she likes is stylish or not, she knows what she likes. Like her daddy she is chubby. I wish she didn't let it bother her so. She is still a beatiful little girl.Regina is a 40 year old in a child's body. She hates school already. She is the comic of the bunch and never forgets anything. Famous for her straightforward questions. Wishes that she lived when I was a kid so she could have a dinosaur like the Flintsones. Although the toys are better now and she's glad that she has more toys than just the dirt that I played with. Fascinated by bones of any kind to almost a morbid state. Is always bringing new bones into the house. Shocked her mother by asking if she could have her bones when she died. Loves to tell everyone how, "Dad is older than dirt." Always has a mischievous smirk on her face, even when sucking her thumb.
