To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.

AN ARTIST MUST BE ABLE TO RIP HIMSELF OPEN AND EXPOSE HIMSELF TO THE WORLD.
Christian J. Soto was born in the small town of Quilpue, Chile,
(South America) on January 24, 1981. In February of '81' my family and I headed for the states, NYC, Queens to be exact. Eventually moving to the rough streets of JER-Z where I was raised.
As a kid I was always considered the quiet one. Constantly daydreaming, even chatting it up with my imaginary friends. I can even still vividly remember reenacting "The Goonies" as I watched, line for line (at a mere 7 years of age) I think it's safe to say I always had a love for the arts always in me. My passion for film grew as did I, always eager to watch, study, and learn. Since back in the day when my older brother and I checked out the classic Hollywood hits on those lazy Sunday afternoons.... those where the days. From the likes of Close Encounters to Clockwork Orange (edited of course for TV) I was blown away by the brilliant, powerful storytelling. Since then I knew I wanted to pursue the arts. At the time I didn't exactly know what, but I had to put my creativity to good use. In October of 1995 "Dead Presidents" was released. That film was my inspiration, it was the film that made me want to be a director. Such a moving experience, I found myself hating the bad guys and rooting for the underdog. In the end I took so much more from that movie than was on it's surface. So, with dreams of getting into film I decided to move to LA in 2003 and never looked back.
Although I had a few minor setbacks when I arrived I finally managed to get my foot in the door, working as an extra on an Indie production "Platinum Illusions" in 2005. (It's definitely good to know people.) The whole experience was amazing, my first time being on a real set. I fell in love with the art and realized it was going to take a lot of work to get to this level. (The amount of times we did that scene!) Finally, in 2006 I got a break working as a PA for an Indie film. (Again, it's all about who you know.) It's a time in my life I will never forget, I had a great time just learning as much as I could. I did everything and anything they needed me to do, with no pay, it was great! In the fall of 2006 I took it a step further and started taking video production classes at my local college, I don't ever regret going back to school. I've learned so much and continue to do so in my studies either in class or on my own.
I've met some great and very talented people who have taught me so much. There stories and encouragement inspire me and let me know I can do something with my skills instead of just talking about it. At the same time I've met my share of liars and hypocrites, unfortunately there are a lot of them in this business. In the short time I've been doing this I've learned how to avoid those people and not to take it so personally.
The best way to describe me? That's not an easy task. I'm an artist, a rebel, a poet, a perfectionist. I never conform to what society deems "normal". Controversy, things that most people wouldn't dare say or do, that's what i strive for. How can you limit yourself? If you do your bound to fail...... Number one on my list and something I live by...... Never mind what people think of you, it's merely there opinion. The moment you ask yourself what would so and so think..... stop.....who gives a fuck.
Currently I have numerous projects in Pre-production and at the same time I'm in the process of launching my production company sometime in the near future. Peace
