About Me

I don't fit into any boxes, man.

My Interests

I love learning about everything, but am most interested in literature, astronomy, physics, art, certain periods of history (i.e. 1920's and 60's as well as ancient Egypt), and religion. I'm very close with my family, especially my little brother who is 9 years old. He is one of the few people I feel comfortable being a total dork with. I'm a bit of a grammar and spelling geek. I keep a dictionary by my side whenever I'm reading and I love learning new words. My current favorite word is obstreperous. I'm an avid puzzler (NY Times Crosswords and Sudoku in particular).

I'd like to meet:

I can get along with almost anyone, but I prefer people who are open-minded and intelligent with passion and ambition.

Music:

I love music and listen to a wide variety of it. I am currently listening to a lot of blues (Son House, Howlin' Wolf, Blind Willie Johnson), jazz (Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington) and Patsy Cline. Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, The Cranberries, Architecture in Helsinki, Pinback, French Kicks, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Elliott Smith, Feist, Interpol, Camera Obscura, White Stripes, Bjork, Devendra Banhart, and Wolf Parade are just a few of my other, more modern, faves. I'll be a Beatles fan until the day I die.

Movies:

I love watching all kinds of movies, but indie and foreign films in particular because the last couple of times I've been to the theatres, Hollywood has let me down. I really like Chan-Wook Park, Akira Kurosawa, Steven Soderbergh, Darren Aronofsky and Michel Gondry.

Television:

I don't tend to watch a lot of television, but I do love Flight of the Conchords, Weeds, Myth Busters, and Seinfeld. If I'm bored and not reading, I'm probably watching the History, Discovery, or Science Channels.

Books:

I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling and Model Behavior by Jay McInerney.
I'm currently reading Moby Dick by Herman Melville.
When I'm done I'll probably pick up The Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking or A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers.
