Sounds Like: "Straight Roads Meander In The Shape Of A Girl"
CD-Review by Stormlord for the E-zine www.nocturnalhall.com
Fortunately the music on this release is not that complicated like the title may suggest; the four guys perform catchy, powerful rock songs with chords similar to Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam or Queens Of The Stone Age.
ECZEMA got an expressive singer in their line-up, namely Michael Wallner. He is not a bard or technical brilliant skilled singing wonder, but he offers a charismatic and hearty performance. His variable voice interprets the different musical faces of just played song felicitously. The track Walking Tall sounds straddle-legged and latently angry, whereas Impending Harm is composed like a classic semi-ballad, which augments in intensity enormously and features a slightly aggressive refrain.
Afterwards the composition Won’t Turn The Lights Out Til You Go offers most space to work out musical ideas and ECZEMA know how to use this latitude adequately. Apart from interesting guitar chords I get aware of playful drum work. Occasionally the instrumentation is applied sparingly with full intention and contributes to the music’s dynamics and relaxed mood, ere happy-peppy rock power takes on the lead.
The young formation manages to fill their CD Straight Roads Meander In The Shape Of A Girl with more than acceptable tunes lasting for a court half of an hour. ECZEMA’s powerful rock disperses good sentiments and arouses zest for more.
