Filippa K Spring/Summer 2008
Filippa K Woman Collection Spring | Summer 2008
Welcome to a playful, colourful season for womenswear, inspired by the world of sports parachuting as well as the bold colour effects represented in the paintings of american artist Mark Rothko. A young relaxed feel is at the centre of this collection with light airy fabrics and cuts combined with functional sporty detailing. Breezy billowy silk dresses with harness-strap backs and party dresses with layers of floaty fabric in contrasting shades reflect this theme of lightness and colour. Batwing sleeves in both knits, drapey jerseys and even voile shirts are a major look, adding to the play of volume, as well as cone-shaped pants with front pleats and short bell skirts. A sporty active vibe is present in detailing such as drawstring toggles, silver zips, pushbuttons, elasticated waists and cross-stitching, which combined create a new fresh feel when used on feminine dresses and elegant tops. For fabrics, the contrast of lightness evident in washed silks and ultrathin jerseys and the more compact materials found in cotton satin and cavalry twill express the mix of tough and soft – a clear example being the Biker Poncho, a traditionally female garment but with very masculine detailing. Against a backdrop of sandy beige tones, bright fruity colours emerge such as sun yellow, lupin purple and emerald green that mix harmoniously with their softer pastel versions, citrus, iris and pistache. The effect is refreshingly new and is inspired by the sporty relaxed image of east coast american beach culture. Bold blocks of different shades relate to the Rothko inspiration and give the collection a powerful energy. This is a season full of easy sensuality and easy wearability.TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM »
Ease | Woman
Whether at home, out travelling or merely during one’s time off, these styles are created to meet the growing need of clothes that are both functional, comfortable and elegant. An ultrathin nylon anorak with high collar is both practical and fashionable, together with a thin cotton jumpsuit, these two styles add another dimension to the parachute theme of the season. Smooth and delicate jersey fabrics are used for drapey t-shirt dresses, tank dresses with generous pockets and simple, sensual tops. Heavy knits have a summer appeal due to lightweight, chunky yarns and linen mixes give a sophisticated drape to oversize cardis and pullovers. Cotton voile kaftan shirts and airy blouses are holiday favourites to be worn with loose viscose pants with a tapered cut or stretchy super-slim denims. Washed silk satin adds a more festive edge, perfect for dinner party hostesses who want to look good without compromising comfort. As Ease represents a state of dressing that is more a reflection inwards rather than an outward manifestation, we are particularly interested in developing eco-friendly styles. Lightweight breezy t-shirts in eco-cotton now form an integral part of the collection. Colours are as always, mute and neutral for a calm feel. Beiges, greys, olive greens and creamy whites are punctuated with pale blossom pink and plum purple for a soft feminine touch.TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM » TO FILIPPA-K.COM »
