Based in South London, Kirsten is one of the best new talents on the London underground house scene. Originally a classically trained musician, Kirsten started to seriously explore dance music in the mid-nineties. A few years later, she started djing at private and underground parties, quickly earning herself a reputation for laying down an infectious groove. Promoters, impressed with what they were hearing, began to approach Kirsten to play at various venues in and around London. This has led to many successful gigs for Kirsten, including two consecutive nights headlining in both Tbilisi and Bucharest, and also giving her the opportunity to play alongside such greats as Rob Pearson and Dave Mothersole.
Not one to sit still, in February 2007 Kirsten launched ‘area38’ with fellow DJ and producer Rob Pearson. Primarily a platform for both themselves and other DJ’s, ‘area38’ is also a vehicle to showcase the best in underground house music., and is currently being aired live on internet radio twice monthly. You can hear area38 on myhouse-yourhouse.net 9 - 12pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
Kirsten's sets are unique sounding. She playfully and creatively mixes a range of House music from cutting edge Tech, Deep and Dub to soul 'n' funk infused US House. A woman who’s not afraid to stand out in a crowd, Kirsten's choice of music is certainly distinctive; combined with that her own inimitable style of mixing, she is undoubtedly a distinguishable DJ amongst the ranks. Coolly knocking out phat 'n' juicy tunes, Kirsten is consistent in her delivery of playful rhythms and infectious basslines. Definitely a force to be reckoned with, it goes without saying that every time she gets behind the decks the dancefloor fills up with appreciative dancers.
In addition to DJ'ing, Kirsten has been busy producing her own material, with recent releases on Evasive, and more in the pipeline. Watch this space.
