We are glad you stopped in to see what the Long Gone Daddy is up to and be sure to check back for frequent updates!!! Thanks!!!!Thank you, Dave and Kiersten Moore, for getting me involved in this new adventure. I guess this is where I should introduce myself and my 1956 "Flying Saucer" Band.I was born into and grew up with a musical family. My two brothers, Mickey and Skippy, and my sister Bea, all played music during our growing years. My mother and Dad were musicians and all us kids grew up on a bandstand. When I reached my late teens, music was in a mode of change. Country music was introduced to Elvis Presley and his style of music, but at the time, it didn't fit any known catagory. Being a teen, I caught on to the new style and wanted to play the new sound. I was fortunate that Elvis came to Texarkana several times in the beginning of his career and I was able to not only see his performance, but also meet him. I was even a part of substituting for Elvis on stage shows in Texarkana when he had some car troubles and could not make it to the show on time. This lead to our meetings. All this took place in a short period of time in latter 1954 and first part of 1955. As a result, I formed the "Flying Saucer Band" and began my own performances in the local area. My manager was the promoter who booked Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, and a host of Country artis into Texarkana. Of course, I was always a part of these stage shows and met many of the artist in the beginning of their careers. The "Flying Saucer Band" consisted of: Johnny Gatlin-Lead Guitar, Pete Waller-Bass, J.O. Livsley-Drums, Ruth Cupp- Piano and Pat Cupp- Guitar and vocals. Of this group only Pete and myself are still living. I visit with Pete a couple of time each month. Pete is in good shape but has retired from music. This group recorded it's version of Rockabilly Music in 1956 a few weeks after a performance on the Louisana Hayride.

Band Members: My old "Flying Saucer" Band no longer exist. However, in the last two years I have been fortunate to have a group of "Great Guys" at Wild Hare Records supporting me at my performances. They are: Dave Moore-Guitar, Ace Brown-Druns and Guitar, Johnny Bones- Bass. These guys are the band on my latest CD," Pat Cupp, Pat Cupp". Daves wife, Kiersten, did all the art work.
Influences: I was influenced by a lot of artist during my teen years. I lived that part of my life in a time when music took a drastic turn in history. Rock'n Roll was born and it changed a lot of things in the music business. A lot of artist came and went in a short period of time, but all left their influences on the new music.
