About Me

In 2006 Friends Mark Witzke, Erik Buchterkirchen, and Guilhem De Hoe, recognized their musical talents and decided to try to organize a band. With Erik and Mark on Guitar and Guilhem on Bass they started out looking for more people. Later on Mark invited star guitarist Simon Hochberg into the band while Erik found their first drummer Asher Lee. The band at the time was named "Slightly Twisted". They met every week usually on Saturdays. The band actually made up its own style of pizza named "Slightly Twisted Pizza" which was a combo of cheese, pepperoni, and sausage.

It seemed like everything was going well although later Simon left the band due to complications with his own music. Erik Buchterkirchen says, "Saying goodbye to Simon wasn't sad. He was the most experienced and a great musician. I hope he does well with his career in his own music." As Erik took the role of lead guitarist and Mark as rhythm guitarist, things seemed to be going well as the band continued to meet. As the days went on Slightly Twisted began looking for new members. However the people who tried out failed to meet their expectations.

Later on in 2007 Asher failed numerous time to make it to practice. As a result the consequences led to Asher being suspended from the band until he could pull his act together. Guilhem De Hoe says, "Yeah Asher really needs to sort out what hes doing. Its been hard because there's like no one to replace him." The band went through a big crisis. Names changed from Slightly Twisted to the Erections, The Knobs, The Kinky Slinkies...So on and so forth. The band basically was a power trio of Erik Mark and Guilhem. The power trio consisted of the members switching instruments every couple songs or so. Sometimes even Asher was available so he could jam with them.

Things changed and the band stopped meeting over time. In the Summer of 2007 Erik and Mark took lifeguarding class through CSC. One day on their lunch break they were walking over to dairy bell for some delicious chicken tenders. "Hey how do you say like god of fire in spanish" Mark asked. Erik was like "Umm like 'Dios de Fuego' or something?" The two laughed. The name became a joke and every so often they would yell the name out.

Erik decided that it was time to start the fire again and bring the power trio back up before school started for their sophomore year. While heading to pizza hut for their usual order still named "Slightly Twisted Pizza", Mark yelled out "DIOS DE FUEGO" in a conversation about mexico. It was decided that it was their new name. Mark Witzke says "Yeah I think its a 'hella pro' band name. Damn those delicious chicken tenders were good."

Dios de Fuego set out on a new story. Erik Introduced the rest of the gang to David Kudelka their new drummer. After hours of jammin all members contributed and recorded their first song, Good News. Erik Buchterkirchen says "We think its funny because were a bunch of white guys with some Mexican band name" "DIOS DE FUEGO!!!!".
