About Me

I work...a lot! I'm a zoo keeper at the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA. I have my own string, in which I take care of Grevy's zebra, Mhorr's gazelle, slender-horned gazelle, Cuvier's gazelle, East African crowned cranes, Abyssinian ground hornbills, yellow billed storks, and bat earred foxes. I'm also trained on the rest of our African animals in the zoo...reticulated giraffe, warthog, ostrich, Egyptian geese, Ankole cattle, Nubian goats, Nigerian dwarf goats, striped hyenas (which I am on the training team for), weaver birds, Sicilian miniature donkeys, Amur leopards, Dromedary camels, addax, Kori bustards, sulcata tortoises, Arabian oryx, bighorn sheep, and African wild dogs. Lots of fun stuff! I work my ASS off in my job...and sometimes I hate it. But most of the time I absolutely LOVE it. It is the most phenomenal thing to work with the animals I work with. They are amazing. I wouldn't give them up for the world.
About me as a person? Well...I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, especially recently. But I like to believe that a person isn't defined by their mistakes, but by what they take from those mistakes. People are always a work in progress, there is no such thing as the perfect person. I believe everyone deserves a second chance. I've been hurt many, many times because of this, but no two people are alike. So the mistakes of one shouldn't be taken out on the next. I'm shy as a person...until you get to know me. Once I'm comfortable with you, you can't get me to shut up. But I also listen well too. As for my opinion on my looks? Well...I think I have a cute face, but as for the rest...it's a work in progress as well. My friends tell me I'm pretty, but I never believe them. I guess I tend to be a little on the self-concious side. That usually tends to be one of my hang ups, and can make people frustrated. But if you can deal with that, I think I'm worth knowing. I'm an ever faithful friend who tries to do anything I can for my friends. I don't turn my back on anyone I care about...no matter what they might do to me, within reason. If you try to kill me we might have to have words. :oP

I'm happy with the people I already know...but if you feel I should know you...try introducing yourself to me. If you are interesting, I'll keep talking to you. If you just send me a friend request without any other message, you won't get accepted...get over it. Unless I already know you...but otherwise...that deny button will be hit faster than anything you could know! :oP

Music:

I've got an ecclectic taste. I can find at least one song in just about every category that I like. I like some more than others...but who doesn't? I really am fanatical about Tool, Pink Floyd, Joss Stone, Three Days Grace...and lately I've been really getting into The Dandy Warhols!

Movies:

I'm a movie fanatic...I love movies! I own over 200 myself...and if I could afford more...I'd have more! I really like Boondock Saints, Labyrinth, Krull, POTC, The Matrix, Harry Potter, 300, Sin City, Underworld, Van Helsing, most Disney movies...and so many others!

Television:

I like TV too much...I like anime, cartoons, dramas, comedies... Some of my favorites are Inu Yasha, Sailor Moon, Heroes, House, Alias, Lost, Gilmore Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, La Femme Nikita, Sex and the City, ThunderCats, FarScape, Xena, Scrubs...yeah...I watch too much TV. Did I mention I have no social life for a reason??

Books:

I like to read...a LOT. Mostly I read fantasy and young adult stuff...but I also read mysteries and horror and the like. If you want to know some recommendations I'd be happy to give them...or if you have your own...I'd be happy for new recommendations!

Heroes:

My parents and my friends are my heroes. No matter what I tell them they love me...it's phenomenal! I don't know what I'd do without them in my life. They are so strong and stable for me! Love them!

It just keeps getting worse...

So, this week actually started out fabulously. We had Keeper Olympics, and my team won the whole thing, AND we won best costume too! So that was very cool! And hopefully I can track down some pictures...
