Highway Clean-up Volunteers Needed
We are planning on making another trip out to our section of highway - Highway 55 from marker 0 - 2, near the village of Hallam - in July or August, to do some clean-up work. We will be setting up a car pool so only a couple vehicles will be driving out to the area. If you are interested in helping out either by providing transportation or by helping to pick up litter please let us know (contact info below) by July 1st. I will be sending out details (where to meet, who will be driving, etc.) to everyone who RSVPs to me by then. After the cleanup we will go out to eat somewhere to celebrate our second cleanup!

The Humanist Perspective on LCC-TV channel 13
LSH will be regularly airing The Humanist Perspective, a show produced by The Council For Secular Humanism, on LCC-TV, Channel 13 (Lincoln Time Warner Cable). The show airs Wednesdays and Saturdays at 5pm. Please tune in!
More about the program:
THE HUMANIST PERSPECTIVE is a half-hour weekly public-affairs program that examines issues of concern to America's secular community: secular humanists, atheists, agnostics, the unchurched, and anyone simply curious about the ways other Americans live without religion or a spiritual worldview. This group is one of the most rapidly growing minorities in American life — the percentage of Americans reporting no religious preference on surveys has doubled in the last ten years, making seculars America's second largest “belief group,†second only to Roman Catholics and soon to surpass Catholics in numbers. THE HUMANIST PERSPECTIVE highlights their concerns.
In each episode, a prominent secular humanist interviews one or more studio guests on a wide range of subjects. Recent programs have focused on the historical role of Thomas Paine; what scholars really know about the origins of Christianity and Islam; secular activism on college campuses; false claims of alternative medicine; church-state separation; the rights of nonreligious men and women in the military; and the civil rights of the nonreligious in an increasingly devout society.
