Jorge Emmanuelli Náter, elder twin of “los gemelos Emmanuelli†and great-grandson of master Bomba drummer Sergio Náter, founded and directed Grupo Folklorico de Bomba y Plena Raices Eternas. In more than twenty years of work with leading cultural workers in Puerto Rico, he has had the opportunity to collaborate with ensembles such as Grupo Folklorico Agueybana, La Familia Cepeda, Cimiento de Puerto Rico, Calabo, Guateque and many others. He has also studied and worked with cultural workers outside of Puerto Rico including countries such as Burkina Faso (Africa,) Sri Lanka, Honduras, Georgia (Russia), Mexico, Italy, France, and Cuba. Jorge has performed with renowned artists who include Giovanni Hidalgo, Danny Rivera, Elias Lopez y Trompetas con Trovadores, Carmita Jimenez, and Johnny El Bravo y Los Pleneros de la Fe; he has also been featured in documentaries such as De Africa al Caribe and En Busqueda de la Verdad de la Bomba Puertorriqueña (Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico) and contributed to programming for HBO, MTV International and local Puerto Rican television shows and commercials. In the early 1990s, Mr. Emmanuelli was the primary catalyst in successfully reviving the tradition of community bailes de bomba (which birthed the term “bombazo.â€) His work and research related to Bomba has been endorsed by the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, La CompañÃa de Turismo de Puerto Rico, and historian Ricardo Alegria to name a few. As a result of his vast knowledge and experience, Jorge Emmanuelli is considered a master drummer, singer, dancer, and composer of both Bomba and Plena in Puerto Rico. Presently Jorge is a member of the Bomba & Plena ensemble “Hermanos Emmanuelli.â€
