Hello,
my name is Patrick Berger, I live in a city called Wiener Neustadt (near Vienna, Austria)
I started playing guitar when I was 6 years old. I played the Acoustic guitar two years but I stopped it because of other interests. When I was 12 years old I bought an electric guitar and started learning Metallica riffs. Then my neighbour gave me a Steve Vai's "Passion and Warfare". When I heard this man playing guitar I was so inspiried that I started learning his songs, tecniques and his playing style. Nowadays I practice 7 hours a day at least.
Steve Vai is (one of) my biggest influences. He isn't a shredder like Batio, Gilbert or Malmsteen. He has much more feel.
Ozzy Osbourne said: ""Don't play me that tapping, shredding and what ever shit. Play me something that makes a 15 year old go out and buy a guitar."
I even met Steve Vai in September 2006 in Musik-Produktiv in Wiener Neudorf, Austria. He signed my "Passion & Warfare" CD and the pickgurad of my first guitar. Then I talked a few words with him. That was one the most remarkable experiences in my live.
Music is a form of art and so it is - like every other kind of art - a expression of yourself. But to express yourself, you have to know yourself and to know yourself exactly, you have to be yourself. And to be yourself, you have to be a confident person. You see, that goes deep into the human psychology.
Although I'm young, I made an cognition which is very important to me. I definitly think, that my primary function on earth is to be a musician. There could be no girl, no stroke of fate or anything else that could cast out my imagination of my future. Music gives you all you need: Inspiritaion, Strenght, Protection, Friendship. Music can you make smiling or even crying.
Moreover i think that music has the power to shape our culture into a better one. Completly free of war, prejudices and discrimination.
My other influences are: Steve Lukather, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Eddie Van Halen, Greg Howe and last but not least Randy Rhoads

So...I think I said enough 'bout Music. Now i want to give a small overview about my personal life;)
Well, I like to go out on saturday evenings with my friends Falkner, Schmidi, Balzar, Mandl, Schoko...great drinking-fellows :) Guys, excuse me if I forgot somone here :)
There are quite good clubs in Wr Neustadt like"Clumsy's", "Next" and "Estate"...just to name a few. It's really fun to spend some time there.
I'm a smoker and prefer "Lucky Strike". I drink Whisky-Coke, Speed King and Jägermeister. I also have a weakness for Corvettes and Sendra Boots.
My very old friends (they are over 40) Bobo, Rick, Hini, Günter, Gummler and Mustafa gave me impressions of being a musician. I had a few great Sessions with these people and they're also supporting me as good as they can.
I'm totally pissed off of school. Just stupid nerds who haven't any idea of anything.
Believe me, the day I pass my final exame will be the greatest in my life.
When I managed school I can't wait to study the guitar at the Vienna Music Institute (VMI).
