The Town Crier (AKA Cliff Flax) is a songwriter, enthnomusicologist, multi instrumentalist, young scientist of the year (1997) and the wild man of performance poetry. His charged, powerfully passionate, sometimes humorous and energetic poetic performances probe the social consciousness and engage audiences physically, intellectually and metaphysically. His poetic performances incorporate a fusion of different delivery styles including blues, field hollers, nursery rhymes, prayers, rap and hip hop. The Town Crier successfully combines his poetry with song and instrumental accompaniment to realise a profoundly entertaining and stimulating experience.Present at the conception of the Token Word Poetry movement in 2002, Cliff has performed regularly at Token Word evenings as a featured and open-mic performer. He has performed with Token Word at numerous festivals including The Great Escape, the Amnesty International Music Festival, TINA, The Woodford Folk Festival and the Peats Ridge Music Festival. Solo performances at international venues include performances in New York, London, Paris, San Remo, Vancouver and Belize. Cliff was crowned Australia's first Slam Poetry champion in a competition held by FBi Radio in 2003. His works have been published in magazines, books and online... width="425" height="350" .... width="425" height="350" ..
