Bram Moony is a musician who likes to play guitar, bass, lapsteel,E-bow, mouth organ, mandoline, ukelele, Bontempi B3, Moog (only trying)...He likes too sing too for he is the singer-songwriter of the band Moony (love-fi music for the soul, inspired by the records of Neil Young, Mercury Rev & Pink Floyd)). The other members of the band are Gunter Moony (hammond, moog), Bart Moony (bas) and Andy Moony (drums). In 2008 Moony supported two concerts of Gorki. Also in 2008 The band recorded the 5-track ep 'Holy Clowns In A Post-Carnival Town' with their bass player Erik Vanbiesen. (band picture by Wim Verhelst)
in 2006 Bram Moony supported The Nikki Sudden Tribute Band (feat. Dave Kusworth, Darrell Bath & The Last Bandits)Bram Moony is also the bass player of the vintage surf rock 'n' roll band The Smoking Dog. This band supported gigs of Dicemen (Nl), The Imperial Crowns (USA)and Nitro 17 (GER) in the past and will be on the bill of The Maybee Festival with Claw Boys Claw and Senser in May. The release of a debut ep, mixed by Wouter Vlaeminck of tomàn is set for 2008.
In 2006 Bram played a gig with Duncan Paul's bluesband The Silver Wings.
Bram Moony used to be a member of Bolster, a dutch singing popband. In february 2005 Bolster released their debut 'Bolster' with the helps of record company LC Music. A small tour lead to AB Club, Kulturama (Leuven), Heetervuren, Marktrock Leuven, Suikerrock, Bockor Music...
The single 'Als Salieri Mij Vermoordt', featuring Kris De Bryne, had a jolly good time in the Radio 1-list 'Carte Blanche'. One can also find the song on the tracklist of 'De Komplete Kleinkunstcollectie vol. 6'. 'Hondelief', one of the other songs of the album was a duet with Kyoko Baertsoen, once the singer of Hooverphonic.
In 2002, mtv-vj Otto Jan-Ham and Bram Moony wrote the score of 'Engelenhaar', a theatre piece of NTG-actor Gregory Caers. Otto & Bram Moony (then known as OJ Big Boognish Bontempi & Band) also supported a gig of the Belgian/American singer-songwriter Kris Dane in CC De Ploter.
Bram Moony used to be the guitar player of Pale (preselection Humo's Rock Rally 2002), the acoustic duo Linda (the band supported a gig of Wannes Van De Velde in 2003), Sloppy Joe (once support act of Stuurbaard Bakkebaard in 4AD, Diksmuide) and Les Coryphées (HRR 2000). In 2001 Bram Moony was asked to play a couple of shows with Triple-J & G-strings.
In 1999 en 2000 Bram Moony was the guitar player of Dummy, a band in which Erik Van Biesen (Gorki) and Peter Debusschere (An Pierle and White Velvit) we're playing too. The following year Bram Moony did some shows with the collective Most Connected Urbanites featuring Erik, Luc Heyvaerts (Gorki),Dominique Vantomme (Lais, An Pierle) and Yannick Uyttenhove (Maximus, Skitsoy, Trixie Whitley).
At the end of '99 Moony recorded a 3-track demo. Erik Van Biesen produced the songs. HT Roberts, known for a couple of roots records,engineered.
Bram Moony's first band was called The Floozies. Their highlight: supporting Vandal X and Paranoiacs (1997).
