..... Were he still alive, Steve Banks would have been just young enough to attend the Stones' Super Bowl show. But it wasn't his kind of event.
A friend to seemingly everyone, Steve fronted a cool '90s band called Trans Love Airways. At one point, he and his band mate/then-girlfriend were crowned "..:Toronto's coolest Musicians" on the cover of Eye magazine.
Eclectic, poetic, geeky and devoid of malice, Steve took to writing in recent years (he wrote Internet "How To Pick Up Girls" books with made-up advice, and was a news-copy writer for The Naked News).
I could always count on him to keep contact in some weird way. He'd send me CDs he'd burned, the last one of which included a German version of the novelty tune They're Coming To Take Me Away, and an audio file of Bob Dylan and John Lennon in a limo drunkenly cutting up other artists.
Steve died Jan. 25 at St. Joseph's Hospital of a ruptured aorta. TORONTO SUN/Entertainment/Columnists/Jim Slotek....

like a lifetime flashing in front of my eyes,
like every good thing
