About Me

Born and raised in a military family. Spent formative years in Europe under the guns of the Cold War, and have lived in Texas, Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, and three tours in Germany. Graduated from Heidelberg American High School, Germany, in 1993; entered into university life immediately afterwards, first at Central Texas College, then Texas Tech University, majoring in History with double minors in English and Psychology. Departed Texas Tech in 1998 after they ran me out of money before I ran them out of credit hours. Enlisted in the US Army in 2002 as an M1 Armor Crewman (Tanker). Deployed to Iraq in 2004 with 2-12 Cav, 2nd BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, fighting in numerous locations including Baghdad, Taji, Tarimiyah, Fallujah, and Mahmoudiyah/North Babil until early 2005. In Oct 2006 I deployed again to Baghdad with 2BCT 1st Cav and have returned to the States as of 14Jan08. After leaving the Active service, I'm doing a two-year stint with the Texas National Guard as a 25B with C Co 36th DSTB, 36ID.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Solstice on Crematoria

It's been quite a while since I've graced this blog (or any other) with news, so I guess I've some catching up to do.  Things have been a mite crazy around here, which is a nice change from the i...

Running the marathon one hurdle at a time.

My piece of the "Change of Command, side of Hell, no lettuce please" is essentially done with.  My hand receipt is repaired, all my shortages are turned in, and I'm clawing my way out of the pape...

"Give them nothing, but take from them EVERYTHING!!"

It's been a few minutes since I last updated.  From the outside perspective, this could be construed as a "bad thing", but let me assure you all that I am not dead and that the silence was a nece...

Morale boosters made of broken dreams

Allen Klein once said that "Zen teaches that once we can open up to the inevitability of our demise, we can begin to transform that situation and lighten up about it."  Allen Klein was never in t...

It is done.

Mom passed away on 24Jan; we buried her today.  I would fill this space with words of wisdom or poignant proverbs suitable for such an occasion, but they'd be just that: words.  If I've glea...
