My name is Paull Wulffson, and I've been building guitars for 25 years, and I'm pretty damn good at it now! I started playing acoustic in 8th grade, but I wanted an electric guitar bad!! The one I wanted was a BC Rich Bich - it was just SOOO cool looking AND when I played on, it practically played itself!! I was breezing through leads and stuff like I was playing for years! Too bad they were $1600 to buy one!! Guess I'd have to wait!
I first started building after I found a TOM bridge on the baseball field during PE at my school... turned out to have fallen off a stolen Les Paul while the guy ran through the school to get away. I was taking woodshop and needed a project, so I priced out the parts to build with and floated the idea by my dad. He said cool, so we went off to the local hardwood store to pick out the wood and instead of the mahogany I wanted, we went with a better looking wood called Shedua. I wanted to build a Bich, but since I was going to build a bolt-on, I decided to go for an explorer shape.
Since then, I have been building and screwing up - I mean modifying guitars for many local players here in Phoenix. Mostly I was building new bolt-on bodies for people, but I finally started making my own necks and learning the craft. Now I build mostly neck-thru guitars and basses, and to me... the pointier the better!! (well.... as long as it looks good too!)
Unfortunately (or fortunately... depends on the day), my "real" job has been with Motorola for the last 17+ years. It's great as far as pay goes, but I'm not always happy being an IT nerd all day. I'm always happiest when I'm with my family or I'm in the shop making sawdust! (but I gotta pay the bills!)
I'm married to the most amazing girl in the world - Tiffany!! (I LOVE YOU!!!) And I have the greatest kids of course!! My son Duncan and my stepkids Austin and Joshua are awesome - and they are all learning to make sawdust like pros!!
I have the greatest family and my friends are the best! I think that's all that needs to be said - for now!
