It all started when Kevin Thornton and Alex Bruno were young teenagers living in Petaluma. Alex's dad had an Ibanez Flying V guitar he kept in his closet. One day they decided to mess around with his guitar and found a passion for music. They both took up guitar and decided that they wanted to start a band. They practiced everyday for years until they formed their first band, Iron Pistol, which consisted of just the two of them playing covers. They then created their second band, Licentious, which consisted of the two if them with their drummer, Nick Muchow. They later changed their name to the now thriving Backlash, and began to produce original material. Backlash now fuses a classic metal feel with contemporary rock and alternative.
