Influences: ...WOMEN RESPOND TO BASS...and for me that's how it is...influences? c'est impossible! too many to mention...very eclectic...always lovin dirtysexybasslines...electro, house, acid house, drum and bass etc. the dirtier the better. thank God for givin us the intelligence to invent the technology we have today that means we get to feel those basslines in our bellies (and lower!) and thank God for givin us the people who utilise it to the max when they're writing and producing their tunes. just gotta mention that hearing bambam's "give it to me" for the first time in the 80's made me realise that i wanted to club for the rest of my life! thank you bambam xalso love the chilled side..ulrich schnauss, nightmares on wax, hope sandoval, sebastien tellier (la ritournelle) etc. still listenin to my fave hip hop masters like pete rock, pharcyde, ultramagnetic mc's, tribe etc...grew up with peeps like jimmy castor, lonnie liston smith, roy ayers, parliament, marvin gaye etc thanks to my wonderful big sis who banged it all out when i was killin her with gina x, siouxsie and the banshees, depeche mode, the cocteau twins, echo and the bunnymen throughout my early fashion victim days. thankyou sis! you shaped my future clubbin forays as soon as i looked old enough to get in xcant forget to mention that the right trance with it's layers, textures and build ups and drops always makes me throw myself around when im flyin...then there's the more guitar based bands that still turn me on...people like ultra vivid scene, the kitchens of distinction, (much missed x who in turn i think MUST have inspired people like..) interpol, editors etc, welcome to scott matthews who's poised to take jeff buckley's crown (and he's english!) kristen hersh (your ghost was the first song i taught myself to play on guitar).there's too much i haven't mentioned...too many artists i just aint got the time right now to mention.. but my biggest influence has always been THE DJ.
THANK YOU TO EVERY DJ WHO'S EVER INTRODUCED ME TO MUSIC, YOU'VE SHAPED MY WORLD. you still do, even with the advent of mtv, myspace etc ...THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAN BE ARSED TO SIT AND WRITE MUSIC, WHATEVER GENRE. YOU'RE WHAT KEEPS THE WORLD SMILING X
