About Me
Brion Gamboa is an accomplished performer, producer, arranger, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist accredited on over 50 albums with over 20 years of live and studio performance. He has won numerous Vocal, Guitar and production awards and has been featured on many radio/TV shows in one facet or another.
Gamboa has had a passion for music as long as he can remember. Growing up in a musical family he was strongly influenced by his father Richard (former songwriter/drummer of the "Keymen") who wrote the number 1 single, "A Kiss In The Dark" in 1966. With a desire to learn it all, Brion was playing drums and guitar by age 5 and together with his father, building basement studios out of egg crates and 2track reel to reels recorders. His first bands soon followed and by age 16 had already worked as a sound engineer for several bands touring through Colorado, found airtime on a local radio station for two self-produced songs and received a teaching certificate in guitar from music icon, Dr. Linda Thompson (Julliard School of Music).
Gamboa got his first taste of stardom when he became a founding member, lead singer and lead guitarist of the national rock group "Third Mist", the first band ever to be featured on the NBC news program, "Good Afternoon Colorado". Two years later, for a television audience of over 40 million viewers, "Third Mist" appeared on many episodes of the nationally syndicated television show "Star Search", quickly climbing to a semi-finalist position in the 92-93 season. During this same time period, Gamboa studied vocal performance under the infamous Dr. Scott Martin (Academy of the Arts Founder and PH. D from the Julliard School - NY) and produced a large charity concert (Unity Of Music Against Drugs) sponsored in part by MTV, and wrote and recorded theme song "We Have The Voice" played in anti-drug classes in high schools throughout the United States. The band also performed in several events for the national organization "Action For Animals".
After "Third Mist" Brion continued to work as a producer, engineer and session player in many studios and occasionally guest appearing with local bands around Denver. He was also able to log over 200 commercial scores as a freelancer with FOX and NBC television in the mid to late 90's. Over the years, Brion has won numerous awards in songwriting, vocal performance and guitar as well as becoming a highly respected Producer/Engineer.
In 1999, a life long dream was fulfilled when Brion started construction on a private full service recording studio in which he could personally work with upcoming talent utilizing and teaching his skills under one roof. Opening in 2001, Sound Mission Studios has been flooded with a wide variety of artists and groups receiving the very best in music production and education money can buy.
The studio projects have been fantastic but the overwhelming desire to be back on stage resurfaced in 2005 when Brion starting writing, producing and playing lead guitar in the progressive rock group “myriadâ€. With the release of their debut album in October 06, “myriad†packed the project full of amazing melodies, solid grooves and hooks all shimmered with an assortment of modern ambient ear candy.
Gamboa and Sound Mission Studios relocated early 2008 to Nashville to be closer to fellow co-writers and is currently working on a solo album due December 08. This overdue collection features such singles as "Anjel", "One chance minute" and "Missed".
