Bio below:
Getafix Records is Marina and Bad Boy Pete. Marina runs the label and with Bad Boy Pete takes care of the production duties. Pete also represents the label as a DJ. The label has been active since 2002 when we made our first release on Bang On as Noctilucence, which Carl Cox licensed for his U60311 Techno Division Compilation. The label continues to evolve in sound, initially emulating the definitive London Sound (Stay Up Forever & Routemaster) and getting a bit harder and stripped-down in recent times.
The DJing style of Bad Boy Pete is fast and uncompromising. The style has gone through 14 years of education - mixing different genres and sub-styles of electronic music with the current style being of Hard Techno. Bad Boy Pete has played Techno (and some Jungle D&B) at various parties recently in countries such as POLAND, BERLIN and GREECE and for various London sound systems such as the parties at the Labrynthe Club (4 Aces) in Dalston from 1998 to 2000, Insanity Sound System, and Underground Sound and Malfaiteurs, We Want You Too (The Fridge), DefCon 1 and other Club Drome parties among others.
The DJing style started off with what is referred to as Old-Skool Rave (91-93), then Hardcore Jungle (93-96) and Drum & Bass (96-date) to Techno (Rabbit City, Phuture Wax, Brain) and then to the London and Hard Techno sound (1997 to date)
In early1997, on a Saturday night about 3am, a few friends who used to go to Club UK and Coalesce parties told us that they were going to a free party (This was surprising as most London parties were charging £15 plus a lot of bouncer hassles!)
We went through a dark alley behind King's Cross / Euston and there was the most manic and crazy scene I had ever scene!!! The entrance to the building was blocked by crates and palettes with a few dogs on ropes and lots of vans, caravans, trucks, busses and travellers shouting their wares. A donation of £1.00 later, we were in a massive building with about 20 to 25 different sound systems. The only one I remembered on the way out after 1,478 hours partying was one that my friends called the Immersion rig. I had also got introduced to some DJs called the Liberators who played the most crazy wired sound we had ever heard..my mates told me that there was also another guy called Dave the Drummer and that they made this music called Acid Techno!!!
The most dialled phone number on my phone for the next 5 years was 0181 959 7525!!!
The love of the sound started off in 1991 when we went to our first rave party in a warehouse in North Circular Road where the likes of DJ Hype and other DJs from Suburban Base and Lucky Spin record labels were banging out what sounded like chaotic noise from the outside of the building. 12 hours later, we came out and realised that this was the way. 2 pairs of Soundlabs (2 years later to become Technics 1200) and 1 analogue mixer later, it is the clichéd tale of the DJ history. it was fun though, playing in all sorts of crazy London RAVE and HARDCORE JUNGLE parties and Pirate Radio Stations sets such as the Sunday Special set on Radioactive 90.6 FM (formerly Pulse 90.6 FM)
