About Me

thanks URBANLYTS. superkuai lytHi, my name is Sue. I was born in New York to a NYC photojournalist. My sisters and I had our first baby pictures taken as we were swaddled and than suspended from a tripod tucked into a camera bag. Our family photos were anything but typical. They ususally ended up somewhere in the Journal American or the New York Daily News. One Halloween ,per dad's request, I hung upside from a monkey bar "looking scared" while my father shot off some frames. The next morning in The New York Daily News was my photo flipped upside down so my hair looked like it was standing on end. My little sister, dressed as a witch, was flying behind me on a broom and in a bubble. Ahh the hours it took to get the shots!!!!! The bright red light outside his darkroom forbidding us to enter while lit ! Our family photo albums were unique! Birthday parties and normal family shots didn't come easy in my family....that would be too predictable. Police radio blaring from the family car..... the ride to grandma's house from Long Island to Brooklyn was unpredictable. Coney Island murder scenes , tenement fires, drug busts, famous faces...all part of growing up as Mel Finkelstein's daughters. There was never any question that the family lived in the foot prints of my father..... with my father. My mother, the love of his life, made it understood to us that it was to be embraced as a way of life. Today I am proud to say that I am a professional photographer with a beautiful studio in downtown Tarpon Springs. It is my passion.....my identity. Every step I take is with my father and my mother in mind. They both lived to get the story...and to than share it with others. My photography is drivin by the excitement of finding out who my subject is through the camera lens. A fun, fluid journey with my client resulting in touching and memorable images. My father's visions and his own passion for photography has filtered down to his children and now his grandchildren. Both my daughter Rebekah and my nephew Ryan have his gift. If you would like to see some of my father's work visit my studio at 212 Tarpon Avenue, Tarpon Springs, Florida 34689. Telephone 727-944-2237 website www.studio212photography.com
