Analogue Pagans were formed in April 2004ce by Jeroen Visscher and Erix van Pelt, longtime friends and self-taught musicians.
From the very first session the music took the form of improvised electro-acoustic soundscapes made with anything they could get their hands on: old analogue equipment collected over the years, several self-built sonic devices (made by Erix, who is a skilled electronics engineer), cheap consumer electronics, FX pedals, toys, contact microphones, tapes, household items etc., etc. The main motives behind this were creating an atmosphere of creative alienation, to create the ultimate drone, to mock trends and praise the obscure, to get into a trance without having to dance.
As time went by the process of making music took on a ritualistic form and the spirit of the cultural heritage of pagan Europe manifested itself in Analogue Pagan's music. The ritualistic aspect is also present in their live concerts. A single continually changing soundscape, breaking through the shallow surface of the post-modern world and tapping into the vein of the elder world beneath.
During 2004ce a string of concerts was played and two EPs were released, which are now both sold out and deleted. Both the EPs and the concerts were met with enthusiastic approval. At the end of that year Analogue Pagans went back to being a largely private project. They wanted to do further experimentation with combining music with ritual magic as well as experiments with different equipment set-ups. This changed their sound considerably, it went from a from multi-layered and loud to less-layered and with more dynamics.
In 2005ce only one concert was played. The rest of that year the duo did a few private recording sessions and were active as members of Time & Tide. The year 2006 saw Analogue Pagans doing more home sessions. When they learned that christian groups were holding mass prayer sessions to wear off Satan's power on the apocalyptic date of 06-06-06 they decided to antagonize that by holding a recording session. A new EP " ....Give The Devil His Due", a tribute to the Satanized Gods of Old, is the result of the 666 sessions and has been released March 2007.
