Why Mopping Janet?
It's a long story but it involves a bottle of 43, a blonde, and a patio.
Use your imagination.
History of Mopping Janet:
It started with me (Tim) and Dino. I put up ads on Craigslist.org.
We scheduled meetings with folks over coffee etc. (you really don't want random
wierdo musicians showing up at your doorstep without screening them). We
found a set of folks that seemed to click
We were playing mostly 80's stadium rock with some 90's thrown in - Journey, The Cars, Styx, Staind, Black Crows, etc.
-
Bass - Shannon
Drums - first Amy, then Rob
Keyboards - Jerry
Guitars - Tim and Pete
Vocals - Dino
And then poof! it was gone.
1.5:After the implosion of Mopping Janet 1.0, Jerry formed Firewire. While technically the band wasn't Mopping Janet, the songs were mostly the same and so were the players.
-
Bass - Shannon
Drums - first Lyle, then Bryan
Keyboards - Jerry
Guitar - Tim
Vocals - Dino
Naturally this died too. How hard could it possibly be to get a handful of 30-40 year olds to commit to playing once a week and actually learning some songs? Pretty hard as it turns out. At least this version gigged.
2.0/2.1:I wasn't ready to bail on the whole idea yet. So we gave it another go.
-
Bass - Nick
Drums - Bryan
Guitars - Tim and first Jimmy (2.0), then Kevin (2.1)
Vocals - Dino
We auditioned second guitarists forever. When we got Jimmy things were looking up. Then he had to bail. So we began the search for a guitarist again. We actually gave up looking and were going to go as a 4-piece when I got the e-mail from Kevin. He was excellent - we were rolling again. And then it fell apart. Again. D'oh.
3.0:That brings us to Winter '07/'08. We're starting to do some recording. Dino and I have been messing with original material for a while and think we've got some good ideas for tunes.
1/26/2008 - Bryan came over and we began experimenting with recording the drums. There's still a lot of room for improvement but I think it turned out pretty good for our first ever attempt at recording acoustic drums. Drum Test Recording

Bass - John
Drums - Bryan
Guitars - Tim and Steve
Vocals - Dino
Of course that didn't last. Steve left. But Jeff joined! So now it's:
-
Bass - John
Drums - Bryan
Guitars - Tim and Jeff
Vocals - Dino
And then Bryan left.
4.0:It looks like Russell, one of John's former bandmates, has agreed to hit the skins for us!
Let's see how long this lasts
And now Dino's gone...
5.0:We're in the market for a singer now. We'd also like to change focus and play heavier stuff in this incarnation. Stay tuned!
