I Walk {I am} the Line {the Walrus}

About Me

I'm a father, a recovering English/Philosophy Major, a ranch-hand for the Pharoah and generally a good fellow. Being a dad is the greatest thing in the world to me. I love my kids like...well, like any dad loves his kids, I suppose. Alexander and Gertrude are really what it's all about for me.
I enjoy working in photography, public relations, promotion, printing, design and advertising, and right now I'm looking to get Adobe and Microsoft certified before I graduate. I still want to teach or college level English and American lit, though. I am the bass player in a Johnny Cash meets the Reverend Horton Heat meets the Wiggles meets Frank Zappa meets Bob Dylan meets the Beatles meets Muddy Waters meets Elvis meets the Ramones meets Spinal Tap band. We like to play a lot of covers with our own twist, and some of my own stuff. Although I'm not usually a performer, I want to surprise a few people out there.
I like to watch old movies--Casablanca is the greatest love story ever told--and read almost everything I can about anything interesting.
I love to cook. I love to eat. I love to feed my friends and family with something that I've created from scratch with various found ingredients from the cabinet and refrigerator. My favorite drink is Kentucky bourbon, but I'll drink Scotch, Irish or Canadian whiskey if you twist my arm and serve it to me 'on the rocks'. And, actually, these days, I've pretty much been drinking Club Soda until I pull my sh*t together. My last drink was New Years' Eve(2006-07), when I made an obnoxious, clumsy pass at a very close friend of mine (Needless to say, she did not appreciate it--sorry, Ang). I still drink far too much coffee. I still smoke far too many cigarettes. I love to talk. I love to listen. I'm a big fan of music, philosophy, arts and literature. Math and science is not really my thing, but I love the Discovery and Science Channels. I'm still trying to finish college, but the stresses of work, family and various Outside Forces always seem ("Nay sir, I know not 'seems'" --Hamlet) to divert my attention. I need to complete another algebra class*ugh!* or two before I can transfer to an upper-division school and earn a literature degree and teaching credential. Maybe I'll graduate as a 42nd birthday present to myself.
I believe that Spinal Tap fully deserve their place as One of England's Loudest and Greatest Bands--you can quote me on that. Anything else you might want to know about me, you should ask my friends. Any one of them could tell you more about me, and a lot more honestly than I could tell you about myself.

What Philosophy-In-A-Nutshell Are You?
Existentialism
You are Existentialism. Often misunderstood and open to alot of debate both from within and outside of your school of thought, you place special emphasis on the importance of the individual experience of the world. Free will, choice, self discovery and the refining of your own special understanding of the world are all the most important things to you. You are probably open minded, morally flexible and understanding. You may want to look into Camus, Satre and Heidegger.

You are The Devil

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.

What Is Your Inner Desire?
Love
Love is based on more than just physical attraction. Sure, attraction is a factor, but love goes deeper than that. Love is based on caring, friendship, commitment and trust. When you are in love it is as if you have your best most trusted friend at your side AND you feel physically attracted to them. It is the best of both worlds! Love is a shared feeling between two people who have a vested interest in one anothers happiness. Love is not about jealousy. It is not about conflict. It is not about testing. Love is a positive feeling. If it is tainted by mistrust, jealousy, insecurity or spitefulness it is not really love but merely a pale copy. Love is the total surrender of your heart to another person with the security of knowing they will treat it better than you will. Love should feel good. It should not feel bad. Love should make you want to be a better person, it should not lead you to do something self destructive. Love is not demanding of your spirit but lifts it and makes it glow. Love is a good thing. Anything less is lust, deep friendship or attraction. Congrats!!! you've scored Love ?
