About Shaheem Reid: Since 2001 Shaheem Reid has been a integral part of the MTV News Team, standing out as one of the most respected and informative voices in hip-hop journalism. Holding down the position of Hip-Hop Editor, Shaheem has produced several MTV News shoots, but is best known for the exclusive news stories he's written on www.mtvnews.com. Urban artists such as Usher, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, T.I., Nas Diddy, Lilâ€™ Wayne, Kanye West and Mary J. Blige have opened up to the Queens, NY native about various projects as well as some of their most personal, headlining making experiences. Not only has Shaheem been able to break news on events that range from historic, to tragic, to just plain bizarre, he's also kept his hand on the pulse of what is going to be big. 50 Cent, Kanye West, Akon, Young Jeezy, Chris Brown and Lil' Mama were all featured on MTV News well in advance of their mainstream stardom.Most recently Shaheemâ€”who has been the subject of several MTV News pieces of his ownâ€”was seen as part of the infamous MTV News Brain Trust on the controversial MTV News program "Hottest MCs in the Game" (a show he co-conceived). The program featured a ranking of the top ten Hottest Hip-Hop artists and ignited intense debate across the world amongst fans and artists during itâ€™s initial run in 2007. Believe it or not, I've met and interviewed just about everybody in urban music... Never seen Dr. Dre in person though. How bugged is that? I've met Michael Jackson twice (real talk), but never Dre.
