How it all began..Hailing from the remote suburban Stockholm ghetto of Brandbergen (The Firemountains), The Dontcares were formed by Rex $uperior (Vocals & guitar) and Zed Divine (drums) at the end of 1995. Rex and Zed were fed up with their situation, being unemployed, broke and living in a hellhole. It was time for a change. They had the urge to play fast Rock n´ Roll and were joined by two local wackos named “The Unholy Sabertooth Hell Fire Tiger†a.k.a Tiger (bass) and Glimmer Twin (Lead guitar). Thus the line up was complete. The band did some shows and a couple of demo recordings and pretty soon they had a handful of fans in- and around Stockholm. In the summer of 1999 The Dontcares released their debut single on Dirtnap Records. It featured three songs, â€Spit In The Assâ€, â€Going, Screaming, Burning†and the classic, â€Evil Sexmachineâ€. The single got rave reviews in the underground press and led to a feature in (a.o) Maximum Rock n´ Roll. That summer Rex became friends with Andrew Scott of Eternal Broadcast Records, who wanted to release a second single. But in the end of ´99 the nagging and constant strains of keeping a band together reached a peek and Zed Divine and Glimmer Twin bailed out.Rex and Tiger were now considering giving up the band as well. In March 2000, after a short break, the two remaining souls agreed that they had too many great songs that needed to be spread across the planet. Rex picked up the phone and called an old friend, Phukkin´ G, who at the time lived in Halmstad (500 km south/west of Stockholm). It didn´t take a lot of persuasion to convince P-G to become the new drummer and move to Stockholm. The only thing the ensemble needed now was a guitarist. Rex came to think of a guy named Doltz Dolorez who he used to have a sideproject with called Drugsters. Doltz also said yes. The new line-up was complete.2000 saw the release of The Dontcares second 7†single, â€Keep ´Em Rollingâ€. The second single also was a success, getting rave reviews as well and giving The Dontcares a worldwide underground following. The next year the band would embark on their first tour, taking them to France. The tour was promoted by Mass Productions who would become the bands French recordlabel. In the following year Tiger departed from the band for personal reasons. Luckily this line-up change wasn´t that big a hassle thanks to the fact that Tiger´s replacement was lurking around the corner. Drette or Goddamn Daniel of Death- and Black Metal fame (formerly being a member of Edge of Sanity and Marduk a.o, and also the frontman in The Deadbeats) had threatened to kill Rex if he wasn´t made a member of the band any time soon.In 2002 The Dontcares got signed to Mass Productions (France) and Big Bongo Records (Scandinavia) and completed the recording of their debut album. Everything seemed to be hunky-dory if it wasn´t for Phukkin Ge-Wiz deciding to have a sex-change at this point in time. There was only one thing to do.
-Call Kekko The Hitman! That was Rex´s recipe for mending what was broken. Kekko was a hardass drummer and ex-speedfiend from a neighbouring suburb of Brandbergen, Farsta. Kekko blended perfectly into the band and finally The Dontcares got a stable line-up.In April of 2003 The Dontcares released their debut album â€Ugly…But Well Hung!â€(Big Bongo Records/Mass Productions). The album has, as its preceding singles also been greatly received and was acclaimed as being one of the best albums of 2003, in Sweden´s leading metal magazine Close-Up. In 2004 The Dontcares aim to hit the road in an extensive way. So beware, they might just be coming to your town to…Kill All!!!
