Trace Wiren

About Me

Trace Wiren's music is a skillful weave of acoustic folk and electric guitar licks blended with sweetly-written tunes and thoughtfully original lyrics, described as her unique brand of "porch rock." She has the ability to combine the gentle with the edgy, and the tough with the groovy. Her lyricism and instrumentations range from loss and redemption on slide guitar, to soft gritty vocals over electric guitar to banjo and harmonica tunes both happy and reflective.

Trained by years of experience on stage, Trace has opened for such national acts as Widespread Panic, The Samples, Excene Cervenka, Pete Seeger, Odetta, 2 Nice Girls, and Rory Block, just to name a few. With two well-acclaimed solo albums under her guitar strap, Trace Wiren has truly come into her own as solo performer, producer, and leader of "Trace Wiren & Her Delightful Band" with Roger Thom on drums and Karen Ameloot on bass. Trace has received artist grants from both the Utah Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.

With influences ranging from Neil Young to Cat Power, and never shying away from her southern musical roots, Trace has used everything from gospel choirs to the sound of an old pick-up truck to bring her songs to life in studio settings. In her live performances, Trace has the distinct ability to make any audience feel like pulling up a piece of the porch, passing the jug around, and stomping their feet.
