In Houston, Texas, there have been many great, eclectic, and powerful artists who have carved a niche for themselves in different facets of rock's history without compromise: ZZ Top, King's X, Helstar, dead horse, etc...Distorted Rage existed to try to add to those legacies in the vein of heavier, more intense side of metal, and to show how, in addtion to the bands listed, how varied Houston's Rock scene is.
Forming in early 90's, Anthony Corona (drums, lead & backing vox) and Jeremy Rodriguez (guitar, lead in backing vox) had a vision to share how Bayou City thrashers culminate their rock & metal influences and share their viewpoints of life in Houston's east side through song. After a few years of searching for members, and several lineup changes, brought in Steve Miller (guitars, backing vox, NOT from the SM Band!), who had been in bands with really no public exposure, and Daniel Acker (bass, backing guttural mayhem) who had been in Dead Squad and the Gravity Creeps, both great bands formerly on the Houston hardcore/punk/metal scene, to complete a lineup who had a collective vision of heavy, fast, and real.
This lineup settled in mid-1995 and is the lineup that recorded, mixed, and mastered the HARSH REALITIES demo on the first weekend of December that same year (that you are enjoying at this moment), and is generally regarded as DR's truly original lineup. One other recording came to be when the band was invited to record an Ozzy cover ("I Don't Know") for the Olympic Records' LEGEND OF A MADMAN: A TRIBUTE cd released 1998, being the only unsigned band asked to participate and be included on the release. Other high points included winning the first annual Stevens & Pruett (of Houston's established longest running rock station at the time, ROCK 101 KLOL) Battle Of The Bands in1996, beating out many well established regional acts of many different genres, as well as regional shows and gathering fanbases in Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, and even the New Orleans area, playing club Zeppelin's there in 1999.
Existing up until the summer of 2000 (Steve had left the band temporarily from 1996-1998, with various other guitarists taking over, but never a steady 2nd guitarist over that time period), when, unfortunately, distance between each others' residences and adult responsibilities started taking over personal lives to where the individuals' energies could no longer be focused on the band. We just hope you enjoy this recorded music that is now permanently captured on disc, and now available to the world. KEEP THE METAL ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
