JAHMANGANG

About Me

The Reggae roots rhythms are omnipresent, the Ragga parts are unmistakable and the Ska grooves complete this perfect mixture. The lyrics talk about the life of today, are socio critical, full of humour and feelings, but still tell about the hope for a better and above all fair future. thats JAHMANGANGThe history of JAH MAN GANG starts in 1993, in this time under the name of VogelrauCH, with lyrics in Swiss-German, sung by Dr Bird. It is with the arrival of the singer JMC, in 2001, that the band became the current JAH MAN GANG. It is also into 2001 that the first demo CD is recorded. Thanks to this last, JAH MAN GANG performs on the largest scenes, in 2002 and 2003: Jazz Parade Fribourg, Bex Rock Festival, Festival du Gibloux, Nouveau Monde Fribourg, Ebullition Bulle, Fri-Son Fribourg and Lakesplash Twann. In autumn 2002, starts the first sessions for the recording of the CD 6 tracks "Laisse-toi aller" in collaboration with Jaba, singer of the Moonraisers. This CD is on sale in all the stores (distribution by Musikvertrieb). In 2004, JAH MAN GANG confirms that they clearly belong to the Swiss Reggae scene while taking part in particular at the Rock's Festival in Savigny, while playing the 1st part of K2R Riddim (F) at the Usine à Gaz in Nyon or by ensuring the 1st part of Lee Scratch Perry (Jam) at the Mad in Lausanne, without forgetting a representation at the Festival of Jazz in Montreux (Festival Under the Sky). The band makes also several appearances on television, like in the broadcast "Garage Live" on the French-speaking Swiss Television TSR. Two songs of the CD "Laisse-toi aller" are on the list of the clips for which you can vote by SMS (no 8214 and 8215)!During the summer 2004, JAH MAN GANG is also present in the broadcast "Fensterplatz" on the German-speaking Swiss Television SF DRS.Forming part of Swiss Reggae Unity, JAH MAN GANG is invited with other Swiss artists of the reggae scene (Moonraisers, Akamassa, Feedback, Herbalist…) to take part in the Swiss Label Weekend, organized by the Radio Suisse Romande, which was transmitted live on Couleur3 on October 2, 2004, during Republik Kalakuta. All these accumulated experiences make it possible for JAH MAN GANG to progress again in 2005. After a first remarkable appearance at the Paléo Festival in Nyon, JAH MAN GANG perform, thanks to its victory at the Reggae Contest organized by the NED of Montreux, on the Reggae Boat of the Festival of Jazz of Montreux. The season is punctuated by concerts at the Palladium of Geneva and in several clubs, like: Amalgame Yverdon, Trappe Bex (of which the concert is diffused live on Radio Chablais), Zénith Château d'Oex and to close the season, a very successful performance at the 2nd Swiss Reggae Festival at the Coupole in Bienne. On sides of the record dealers , it runs rather well, JAH MAN GANG is present on the very noticed sampler "REGGAE.CH" produced and distributed by Universal, followed very close by another sampler: "Propagandaroots" on which figure two new songs of JAH MAN GANG. Our 1st CD "Laisse-toi aller" and Yakayo are now available in the whole world on www.itunes.com
