The Vangos

About Me

The Vangos are an 'energetic mix of indie pop and roll' according to leeds student paper. The band formed in 2007 when Matt, Mike and John recruited talented new bass player Dave. The four worked and reworked all previous material, wrote new more detailed songs until they felt that they were something they could play. Dropping songs which they recorded for a record label in Hull finally let the boys identify their own sound, which they had been searching for for a long time. New additions to their live set including 'Days go so fast', 'Ten weeks abroad' and the crowd pleasing 'we can't all be pioneers' meant the boys could get on stage and perform, have fun as friends and most importantly do what they love. From different parts of the country Matt, Mike, John and Dave were brought together by musical influences and university. Their aspiration is to see how far music can take them, put on a good show for people and ensure they have a good time. Recently working with a well known leeds producer; Bruce Wood, who recorded for nightmares on wax and the leeds city bright young things album, the band feel they have the best songs possible, a good live set, chanting choruses and a pretty good fan base warming up in leeds and yorkshire.
