Make-up Artist Biography

Janean Allen, CEO of Make-up Art Perfection by Jadae Modeling, has had an inert passion for hair, beauty, and fashion since her early years. A true artist at heart, her artwork and poetry were first published at the young age of 7; it was only a matter of time before she delved into the aesthetic art form of make-up artistry.
She began working in hair salons during her early teens as a shampoo girl and setting up shop at home charging schoolmates $10 per visit for up-dos. Throughout high school she focused on academics and sports, although she never abandoned her flair for fashion, modeling, and hair styling/care. From ages 16-18 she worked for Avlon/KeraCare as a hair model traveling up and down the east Coast from Virginia Beach, VA to New Rochelle, NY. This experience exposed her to a whole new world of hair and fashion: modeling in designer evening gowns ranging in price from the hundreds to thousands of dollars, having her hair razor-cut by hair-stylist to the stars, Joseph "Neeko" Abriol (Halle Berry's personal hairstylist), and working with famed make-up artists credited with working with some of the top musical performers in the industry, including Missy Elliott, and Bad Boy Entertainment Artists.
During college, Janean was very involved in the Multicultural Student Union on campus, she was as an officer in the organization; in addition, she coordinated and modeled in fashion shows, wrote/directed and acted in an Off-Broadway Play production, and organized extra-curricular Conferences to assist young women on her campus with the transition from college life to the corporate world. Some of her friends loved her sense of fashion and unique taste so much they made her their personal-shopper, and would frequently either give her their credit cards/cash to shop for them, or would take her with them on shopping trips that would last for HOURS on end just to get her advice. As a senior at Bryant University, Janean was able to continue her pursuit of expressing her creativity and hone her artistic abilities through her internship with a local urban entertainment magazine. She was a freelance writer/photographer and would attend major events and photograph the press conferences and performances, and even interview the celebrities as well. This brought her back-stage, and even further into the world of beauty, fashion, and entertainment.
However, in the back of her mind, make-up artistry was something that she always had a desire to learn more about. In 2003, when Janean was offered her first job after college, she decided that it was time to step up her appearance to be more professional, and purchase some grown-up make-up. Her FIRST stop was at the MAC Counter in Columbia Mall! There she met one of the most talented makeup artists she would ever encounter. The artist was polite, humble, and personable; she openly shared her knowledge with Janean, and her first professional make-over was a huge success! After the make-over, Janean purchased EVERYTHING the make-up artist recommended and spent over $300 of her internship and work-study money to buy make-up! To this day, Janean still uses the brushes she purchased that day, and she often refers to some of the techniques she learned from Celebrity Make-up Artist, Dee Dee Kelly (personal Make-up Artist to Comedienne Mo'Nique). Janean still keeps the face chart from her first make-over to remind her of how far she has come.
Ms. Janean Allen is a self-taught make-up artist that did not become a professional/formally-instructed artist until July 2006 when she was hired by MAC Cosmetics. Today she is a free-lance make-up artist in business for herself specializing in beautiful, yet natural make-up with an emphasis on color and enhancing her clients natural, God-given beauty. Thus far, during her short professional career, she has worked with such artists/entertainers/models as: Jeffrey Osbourne, Buckeey (Flavor of Love Season 2), and Megan Wollover (Busta Rhymes - "Touch It" Video, King Magazine, Black Mens Magazine.)
